Picked this bike up from an old friend today for a pittance. 
Lots of miles on her but she should clean up nice.

I was thinking of restoring this bike to its original build. Initial research points me towards a downtube shifting Campagnolo build. Any of you folks able to give me your thoughts on the age and original build? Owner says he bought it second hand in the eighties. Thanks all. I should of taken more pics. BB has two cutouts. Thanks.

I would guess early to mid '80s manufacture, given the SL tubing, braze-on shifter bosses and single water bottle attachments. If the cables are routed above the BB that would indicate earlier rather than later. My '82 Gap has similar characteristics. If that's the case, and you want a full period-correct groupset, I'd recommend Super Record. If it were me, I'd get some Dura Ace DT shifters for initial conversion while collecting the Campy bits, unless you already have a stash!

Pretty sure it's just the very unhelpful acciaio speciale decal. The only thing to be gleamed from it is it's probably from the late 70s. I can't really imagine the tubes wouldn't be standard diameters.

It's no older than 1978 model year based on the Portacatena dropouts. These were discontinued circa 1983 but sometimes manufacturers had excess inventory. Still, 1985 literature shows this model equipped with two sets of bottle bosses.a brazed-on front derailleur tab and OLMO branded dropouts, so it's no newer than 1984.
