1972 Peugeot PX-10???

Hi all,

Is this a 1972 PX-10? It has a Stronglight crankset, what looks like standard Nervex lugs, tubular rims, and chromed fork and stay ends, but it also has stem shifters and suicide brakes. I don’t know much about Peugeot, but if it’s a PX-10, I believe it’s listed a good price and I would be happy to facilitate the sell.

I attached the PX-10 page from the 1972 catalog, it matches pretty well.

thanks in advance!

I think you nailed it- 72 px10. Egad, with a kickstand! I would love to have that bike but it would be a better deal for a local. Thanks for posting!

It’s been modified.

Looks like UO-8 wheels, stem mounted suntour shifter, and the ends of the quill pedals hacked off to accommodate Bigfoot.

What kind of a price are we talking about?

Nice find. @chico81 has been finding his share of great old French bikes lately!

FWIW there was a utility version of the PX10 that came with steel Rigida clincher rims laced onto the standard Normandy Competition hubs. For those that didn't want sew ups I guess. Seems kind of nonsensical today. It used to mystify me too. I had a 72 PX10 that came with those rims. Pretty much just like the OP's, minus the full on hackery.

Or, the steel wheels could have been swapped in from a cheaper bike.

The safety levers, stem shifters and kickstand were definitely added on.

OP: Be concerned about possible damage from an overtightened kickstand. Also, the pedals are very likely to have destroyed bearings, and will not stay together, being that at least one dustcap is missing. Dustcaps are what holds those pedals together.

Its $150 OBO, here is the link: https://offerup.co/VztUmO4JiX

if there are any Southern California members interested I say go ahead and make an offer on it. I was going to offer $100, but it’s over an hour drive for me, plus I just had a deal fall through so I don’t have the space for it.

I’m in Goleta. Too far south for me or I’d consider it.

Great project bike; I'd be tempted if it were local to me.

Hi fellow 805’er! Goleta? Nice! My wife and I lived in Santa Barbara for 6 wonderful years, then moved south for grad school. Somehow life got in the way and we could never make it back...

As for the bike, I have contacted the seller and requested better pics which he will be sending this evening. I will be sure to post them.

It's supposed to have Reynolds 531 stickers on the seat tube and on the forks. And, it should weigh exactly 21 lbs.
