Please help me identify this bike

It has full Campy gran sport groupo and a serial number AN5589 on the bottom bracket.

Not a full group; just derailleurs and shifters most likely. Those aren't Campy brakes and crankset. Interesting fork. Windsor bike, maybe?

Absolutely right. Brakes are Weinmann and cranks don't have any marking. Kinda confusing for sure. Previous owner has repainted the frame.

Sorry to say, but from that first pic, sure looks like the fork is bent.

Nope definitely not a Windsor (or Acer-Mex brand), old Euro stock and possibly Austrian given the odd mix of components from Italy, Switzerland and maybe a smattering of French. And the stay caps have a hint of "Puch" to them...

Keen eye my friend. I still can't tell if its bent, but the front wheel is sure hard to put in / take out. Bike rides fine though.

What's that other number (upside down in the photo) on the BB shell?

Pull the fork, maybe there's something on the steerer tube.

So, what's the opinion ? Restore it, or just grab the Campy parts for feebay ?

FYI I am also restoring another yellow Austro Daimler which is missing a Campy NR RD... Perhaps I should just use the gran sport there ?

The AD deserves nuovo record. The Bergmeister is not the most elegant frame, but one interesting feature is that a lot (all?) of those frames were copper plated. I think yours is, where you wire brushed the bottom bracket, there seems to be a gold (copper) colored layer before you hit bare steel. A bare copper frame could provide an interesting build, aesthetically, but the frame is still heavy and somewhat sloppily built.

^^^^ So how do you get it down to the copper, without going all the way to bare metal? Chemically is one way, I suppose.

I used "goof off" to clean the serial number, and that took off most of the paint, along with some copper too ! Obviously, not recommended ...

You got it. I polished and installed the cranks today, and the bike is starting to look really good. It deserves nothing less. Will start a thread detailing the restoration.

I sold my Puch Bergmeister a couple of weeks ago, and I concur with that assessment. I enjoyed it while I had it -- a heavy bike, but a very smooth ride with its long wheelbase. Unfortunately, as nlerner mentioned, that fork looks bent.
