Well, twist my arm why dont'cha? At least one pic anyway, I posted this bike somewhere on the forums previously though the great Pbucket spasm may have eaten those photos... I've always been a go-it-alone sort of guy on my endeavors but after this experience I'd definitely ask for facilitation if another speciment of this caliber popped up.

1963. Unfortunately it had been updated with a Nitto stem and handlebar as well as 1980's Weinmann brake components. But I got a great deal on a Titan / Maes-Kint combo after I got the bike and I already had the period-correct Vainqueur 999 brake set loitering in my stash to put on it.. This one was worth the extra effort involved and I'm really happy with how it turned out.

Do you know if this one originally came with the Disneyland downtube decals, or if it's one of the first with the sans-serif font from factory?
Since you do have the Titan/Maes-Kint bar, I'm curious - is your steerer tube 22.2mm or 0.833"/21.1? The (factory) replacement fork on my 1961 Paramount was the latter, and so was the Titan / Maes-Kint bar and the upper nut on the first-gen Record headset (the one with a groove and no Campagnolo lettering). When I replaced the replacement fork (the replacement did not have eyelets and was shorter than a P12/P10/early P13 fork), I had to shim the stem to fit the later 22.2mm steerer.

I thought I spied a Record RD back there instead of a Nuovo. Can't make out if it's a 151 bcd crankset.

It is indeed the 151 bcd crank. It had lost its decals but the SN shows a November origin and my research indicated the post-Gothic decals by then so I went with those. Not sure about the steerer tube diameter, I'll have to check. There was no apparent modification on the Nitto stem and I had no issues with the Titan either.
It's been a long time since I've had the chance to see another 151 in person...almost forgot there were three versions of these.
Wouldn't be surprised if the 22.2 standard was already in place by '63.

Why bother?...because for many in this hobby, finding something new is part of the fun. And refurbishing is part of the fun. And learning about the history of different brands is part of the fun. And trying out different components as well as geometry is part of the fun.

Agree fully. The hunt is part of the thrill. I collected guns for years. After I inherited all of my father's guns, I went on a crazed, gun-buying rampage (pre-obama, when everything gun-related was cheaper) after that, which has - since I've retired - waned. Dear Wife would ask me why I needed so many. I told her that were an investment that I could enjoy while I owned them, and when I pass on, they'll be a good inheritance for our children. I think that bikes, albeit discretionary as they are, also provide this aspect.

Thought so! Almost mistook them for the 144's, as I'm used to the thinner arm of the V2 1049 crank (LH is still Nuovo Record) on my '61 Paramount. Still have the original Stronglight cottered steel crankset too - a bucket of rust, but functional.

Now how did this thread go from whining about a flaky sales site, to bragging about hard to find Paramounts, when the Paramount was purchased on that very same flaky sales site? 🤔😁😉

So, funny story, I had a couple suds at the Mariners game Friday night and then proceeded to chew out someone who had listed a 914 engine and trans, but posted it in a way that made it look like he was also selling a shell. Turns out I get frustrated with the app too!

Offer Up is a train wreck for buying anything and I’ve never sold a bike there but I’ve bought easily a half dozen bikes very reasonably. I’ve also missed out on 40 or 50 simply because the sellers are often flaky.

At that point I said nothing and ended our communication. I also had someone try to renegotiate a deal after I said I would buy it, he messaged me saying someone else was interested and told me I needed to make a new offer. I said let the other buyer have it, a week later he messaged saying the other buyer backed out and I could have it for my original offer. Again keep the bike.
Still you would be shocked what I've bought on offer up and very very reasonably at that .

And there in lies the problem ... I spent a week trying to get a seller to just measure a seat tube on a bike so I would know whether or not the bike would even be a fit for me. He would never answer, then finally when he did reply he basically told me come look for myself he wasn't going to measure anything and then he wanted to know what I would give him for the bike.

As for the type of person who isn't willing to stand by their word, this little story ought to help: https://bit.ly/2J5CQ7X

If it's not nearby, I don't bother with it anymore. Saves me from the first type of seller.

OfferUp has worked well for me as a buyer. I've had mostly really easy transactions with seemingly normal people.

Lazy sellers tend to not answer anyone. This eliminates the competition. Use it to your advantage. Just don't drive two hours one way...

I prefer LAZY sellers. Can't bother with a tape measure? OK. Won't air up tires. Fine. Can't even post a picture? Perfect. Bought a bike once, the entire ad was bycicle $50. Thats right, couldn't even spell the word bicycle. After two weeks, I decided to contact the seller. Can you tell me the brand of bike? "Its real nice and its blue". Can you tell me the type (mountain bike, road bike)? "Its real nice and its blue". So I went to look at it. Seller was surprised I was the only one who had responded. It was a Cannondale SR-1000, the full Sante bike. He included a nice floor pump and a mountain bike too.
