winter is trying to return! We've had a pretty mild January so far, but we had 20 to 30 mph winds yesterday, and are expecting single digit (F) temperatures in a day or two. The weather was about 26F this morning with a bit of snow expected today, so I figured this was the sweet spot for the weather.
Well... it wasn't bad, but the roads got a layer of snow before I could get out. Except for some icy spots hiding under the snow, it really wasn't too bad.

and a shot with the bike, just in case anyone thinks I was out for a walk or something...

It ended up being a fairly decent ride, overall. I was just happy to not be dealing with high winds or frostbite.

When you gotta go... Re-Opening day of Cottonwood Pass pass (Almont to Buena Vista, CO). CODOT paved the pass ... smooth riding. I guess we all could have just stepped 20 feet into the trees, but this was calling for us. The CODOT crew was like, whatever... just hurry it up.

Somewhere near El Chalte'n, Argentina, on a bike trip (self supported of course), we saw these two push bikes. I guess they were from somewhere in Europe and had toured in the US, then went south. Don't recall where I learned about their trip, but wow, a push bike with panniers... over mountains, through deserts and so on, and for several thousand miles? Now that counts as hard core.
