New Trail (to me) in Hastings, Led Me to This:
Old Mill Ruins, buried in the forest, along the Vermillion River.

It was almost spooky down there...

Seen during a ride in the neighborhood. The poncho was to protect the carving until a cover could be built.

I 've seen a LOT of skinks here in Arizona, little lizards about 3-4" long. You usually see them running off the side of the road, as you approach, and it's like you only see them in your peripheral vision, kinda thing. Yesterday, I saw something a bit bigger, roughly iguana-sized, with a long thick black tail. Not sure what that one was, but he ran under my legs, on my blind side, and made me jump outta my skin for a second. 😁🙄

I'd worry a lot more about the grizzlies. Those things are crazy fast for their size, unlike gators.
In my neighborhood, the concern is cougars. I've never seen one live, but there are folks who've lost their dogs running along with them when they're out biking local trails.

Copperheads. Rather common along the Raleigh Greenways. If they don't leave on their own accord, I encourage them to get out of harm's way.

Crazy that someone could be walking their dog on leash and a cat could just snatch the dog off the end of the leash and the owner wouldn't even notice!

The two that I heard of, there was no leash involved. Just a guy on a MTB, riding trails up off a local logging road with the dogs chasing along somewhere behind or ahead. This is pretty far out in the woods.

The Hudson River, as viewed from Manhattan on Monday night. That's New Jersey on the other side. The river is about a mile and a half wide!

I need a haircut. But I'm going bald, so each haircut gets tougher & tougher, emotionally. I'd like to just cut it all off, and be a faster rider for it (?), but something tells me if I lose all my hair, I'll lose all my cycling skillz with it. 🤔🙄😁

I used to go for the Jimmy Taylor (*see what I did there @SpeedofLite?*) high and tight flat top- but now my hairline is starting to recede- so I just get it cut short enough to lay down and cover that up some. Still keep the sides tight, though.

Beat me to it.
I'll have to go back and get a picture:
I ride along fields that were flooded by the Ohio River for months:
it seems like yesterday, they stunk to high heaven, but now they smell like corn silk.
Except for the piano.

My post was tongue in cheek. I have little sympathy for dogs owners that let their dogs roam/harass wildlife. I've been bit twice in the last 4 years by off leash dogs, I really need to start giving them a face full of bear spray.
