Thanks, guys. At this time, painting and in general building this out has been put on hold indefinitely as I've been temporarily laid off, joining many other people in the same situation. It was a great Friday morning... So this remains a fun and free exercise. I will render it in its original red/white/green fade color scheme as well as the Carrera triple fade. Chrome fork of course. Then I'll get a bit silly with it. 
The black/white colors in the screen shots are just colors I assigned to each part/layer to differentiate them from "working" layers (light grey).

If this were mine and a repaint was in order, there would be no question as to the livery. In 1987, Stephen Roche rode a Battaglin SLX for the Carrera team and became the only person besides Merckx to win the Triple Crown of Cycling (Giro d'Italia, Tour de France & World Championship). It should be painted in the 1987 Carrera triple fade livery of red, white and baby blue. The real fun part is that if you model as the bicycle he used in the 1987 Nissan Classic, you can put Peugeot decals on it and confuse the hell out of everybody.

I'm currently switching from polished 10-sp Centaur to a carbon crankset, carbon shifters, and perhaps more carbon Campy. The red/white/green frame, with black wheels, is really starting to look good. When I'm done, I'll up[date pics.

It would be pretty funny. The 1987 colors are quite nice, and I remember watching the GCN video years ago where they did a retro vs. modern.
I'm done with the frame and headset, and most of the way through the fork. The sloping, "melted" organic look is quite tricky! Reference images, the undo function, and patience will win the day.

A friend and I went for what was supposed to be a couple mile ride and it turned into a meandering tour of the city. I took the Davidson as the fit is dialed in, and after a couple pre-ride cleat adjustments (for the knee, hence the short ride plan), it was superb for the entire ride. That Impulse frame, the wheels and tires, and the Di2 combined with the fit make it perfect. The Battaglin has its work cut out for it.

Inspired me to re-examine mine. Paint is excellent, so nothing there, but a group redeaux may really change it. Chorus carbon 10sp Ergos, Chorus carbon 11sp crankset, black Scirocco hoops, New black Veloce calipers. I'll stick with Centaur long RD and Centaur FD to run a 12-30 cassette. Too much black may weigh it down, so creme-wall skins.
Will try to make it RoS-worthy.

Well, it only took a month of a bunch of other things to finally get around to giving you all some update. I finally set up the model to be rendered, just running through some initial color ideas. First colorway is the original paint work. The rest work in some fun.
Enjoy, and tell me what you think. I'm debating between the high-tech-yet-lithe Dura-Ace wheelset shown above (built in real life), though I sold that set and would thus have to source another. I just built this up again, this time with a few different components (sold the others, too, lol), namely the replacement of the Dura-Ace wheelset with my Shimano 600 hubs / Campagnolo Atlanta 1996 rims wheelset. Those wheels on my Miyata-built 1981 Univega Gran Premio make it ride like a truck, but on my former Land Shark frame, they didn't feel bad at all. That Land Shark was magic...with a very whippy fork.
Anyway, maybe we go for the attainable Shamal look and go H Plus Son SL42s in full polish. I'd have to build them, and have calculated their theoretical weight, to a few grams. Many of the colorways below would play well against a very shiny rim. Maybe I should build those into this....
