A bike. Definitely a bike.

Sorry, couldn't resist.

That is one of the least detailed CL photos I've ever seen.

No wonder your "tricky"😬

Frameset appears close to 1982.

Has top tube brake guides, DT w/b mount and under BB cable routing.

Wonder if chrome fork with sloping crown original.

Chainset is three plateau.

Pedals appear to have quality one-piece forged bodies. Perhaps something like Atom/Maillard 700.

Silver and blue transfer above white one on seat tube is California state bicycle license.

Headset appears alloy.

QR seat binder.

Bar appears wrapped with electrical tape.

A head transfer or emblem is present; appears white and roundish.

At posted price would think well worth purchasing for fittings alone...

Px-10!

Interesting, it won't let me make that X a capital. Must know I'm being facetious.

Wow. That's the way I saw it. With 700 wheels I thought it worth having a look. The kickstand is worrisome though.

wrt the prop stand -

be of good cheer - at least it is not steel :roflmao2:

---

anecdote -

back around 1973-74 a LBS had one of those Allegro Eddy Merckx machines done up in Molteni team colours where all of the components are pantographed and the frame ends were swissed. staff thought it a bit over the top and it certainly was a slow seller - despite the boom. when it eventually sold the buyer stipulated that he wanted a kickstand. staff thought this a bit odd but duly fitted an ESGE. when buyer saw this he exclaimed "no, no! i want a steel one." event kept employees in stitches for a week...

Was "PX-10!" the extent of your original post? If so, the forum software picked up that your post was all upper case, assumed you were yelling at someone, and converted it to mixed case. If you post a single lower-case letter, that doesn't happen.

It's not just the pic posted here. All pics on the original ad suck. Wrong side, WAAAAY too high an angle (um, the bike is on the ground, not at eye level....), out of focus (dude appeared to have focused on the background in each shot). I'm guessing the pedals are SR SP150s or comparable (Maillard/Atom as mentioned). Looks like it's had a modicum of maintenance; that appears to be a cartridge BB, which would not be original. Rack appears to be a Blackburn. Stem is clearly not original, and appears to be some sort of hybrid-esque riser - common "geezer" mod. Brakes are probably DiaCompe 500G or the like; hoods probably turned to dust back when disco sucked.

Hmm, chrome socks, and is that an "R" on the seat stay cap? A Rampar Raleigh, perhaps?

No way I'd pay $100 without a LOT more detailed information. Drive-side pics, branding on all the components, etc. Close-ups of the lugwork, fork crown, etc, maybe the BB shell and dropouts.

The seatlug looks mid-to-low-end Japanese/Taiwanese, but it appears as if the seatstay caps may be engraved.

The wheelset looks like it may be 40h front and back. Didn't count them, just looks it. Schrader valve may be a touring convenience (ok), or someone drilled out Presta rims (meh).

Pedals look muy interesante.

And, still the "x" are all lower case.....

I deliberately typed a small x at the beginning of each word so I could yell, er...speak robustly, thereafter.

Thanks guys. There's some interesting stuff there. I'm thinking offering $50 and going to $70 unless this a lot nicer bike than my first impression. The pictures are awful so maybe it's just someone unloading his or his neighbors garage. You guys really took a good look. Thanks.
PX-10..😉

As Kurt wrote, those pedals could be something quite interesting.

The shape of the dustcap has me wondering if they might be T.A.

Hope you get it so we can all learn a bit more about the bicycle...
