Anybody recognize this bottom bracket?
I'm a bit stumped with this but confident that BF C&V will come to the rescue.
This is the bottom bracket on my 1983 Specialized Sequoia. Anybody recognize it, and if so, know what tool I need to track down to remove it? There are 8 notches in there that none of my tools fit, and Google is failing me. If it helps, both sides look the same (drive side and non-drive side). Both have a lock ring, no flats, etc. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...127cee47_z.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...dc388a97_z.jpg |
Looks like a Suntour VX cartridge bearing bb. There's a tool for it, but it's probably impossible to find. After loosening the lock rings, I was able to remove the cups using a pin spanner, .

I only have an adjustable pin spanner but that was enough to get it out. Thanks! |

http://www.os2.dhs.org/~john/suntour-bb-tool.jpg Fun fact: Phil Wood BB mounting rings will fit the SunTour cartridge, so if you ever want to use it in a frame with different threading, you just need to get rings from Phil. |
