Lost 1975 Schwinn LeTour Red

A bike repair man (high school kid that had a home based bike building and repair shop in parent garage) took my bike and promised to fix it .

He sold it and now I am trying to find it.

Attached is bill of sale with serial number 4H13853

If anyone sees or bought it I will buy it back from them.

I have a red 1977 Schwinn LeTour II... in rideable condition. It's yours, free, if you want to pick it up. I'm in south Kansas. I know it's not the same, but it's close.

I grew up in Cranford, not far from where you bought that bike. Have you contacted the police? The guy stole your bike after all.

I grew up in Cranford as well. My Dad was from Elizabeth and we got all out bikes from this shop. Also was a great sporting goods store that we went to in Linden, cannot remember the name now. I thought of going the Monmouth County prosecutors office and have him charged with theft by deception- offer to repair and then sold it or lost it some how. This kid was working towards a degree in tech school to become an electrician and was a good kid until fell in with drugs.

Kind of OT , actually VERY off topic, but one of my Great Great Grandfathers and one of my Great Great Great Grandfathers were "Jayhawkers" even though they were from Illinois. They were part of a group from Henry Co. Illinois that signed up in 1861 to serve with Kansas during the Civil War and they were assigned to the Kansas 7th Volunteer Cavalry, aka the notorious "Jennison's Jayhawkers". 3 Great Great Great Uncles also served in the 7th.

There's a statute of limitations on how long you can wait to formally press charges, no idea what that time limit is in your area, but I wouldn't let someone get away with theft like that. "Good kid" or not, a thief is a thief, and once the police get involved that should light the proverbial fire under his rear to get disclosure.

I'm wondering if you've tried to contact the kid's parents? Sounds like a deal most rational and respectable people wouldn't approve of!

Good luck finding your Schwinn.
