We need to see the décor to pick a bike.
track bikes convey simplicity fancy city bikes for urban commuters a suburban coffee shop might need a Schwinn, Stingray or Corvette depending on the neighborhood. edit: Central CA? Jon Tallerico is a local and could make nearly any style you might want. No patina. https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...de1851c8e5.jpg Recent NAHBS, JonT in middle |
I don't think anyone is even reading the OP's post anymore and are just fantasizing about their dreams.
So far, the advice of game_player_s and sdn40 are the soundest bits of advice here. Either let wifey pick exactly what she wants (as Fred as it may seem), or choose to match the decor and psychographics of your clientele. Remember that the aura you create in the cafe is more about making them comfortable so you retain customers and encourage new ones to visit. Sure, it's her coffee shop and she should feel free to indulge herself with some personalizations, but there is always a chance that it may clash with your clientele (come to think of it, if your clientele is of the type prone to complaining about "cyclists in the road," drop bar anything hanging off the ceiling or wall really might have a negative effect). Plus, unless it's a cafe that sees many riders, it is probably not going to make a major difference whether she hangs up a Herse or a Huffy. -Kurt |

Grungy, rusty, balloon-tired heavyweight. A 1930s - 1960s Schwinn, Wards, Hawthorn, etc. Something with a dorky "gas tank" sorta useless decorative appendage and ridiculously elaborate chain guard. Coffee people are not generally vintage racing bike people.
(Although many vintage racing bike people are indeed coffee people; but that is a a very small subset.) https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...ec5d9ceede.jpg
