Open apology to this subforum

A few days ago I joined this forum seeking some advice for my daughter and started a thread in this sub-forum asking for help. The thread has since been locked and removed. Then I learned that I had violated this forums policy, which I am deeply sorry if I or my thread offended anyone so please accept my open apology to all members here. I do want to take the time to thank each of you who had generously offered advice in that thread to help my daughter. I have since joined the forum as a paying member and hope to comply with all the rules here going forward. There are some PMs in my in box that I can't reply to since I do not have enough posts yet to utilize that function so please bear with me to reply.

Thanks again for all of your help.

I didn't see the post- but just reading your two posts makes me guess you either asked how much stuff is worth or you put stuff for sale here- That stuff goes either in the "how much is it worth" forum or the "for sale" forums.

"Classic and Vintage Bicycles: Whats it Worth? Appraisals.Use this subforum for all requests as to "How much is this vintage bike worth?"Do NOT try to sell it in here, use the Marketplaces."
https://www.bikeforums.net/classic-v...th-appraisals/

"Classic and Vintage SalesPrivate Sales Only, no online storefronts. All prices must be quoted, we are not an auction site."
https://www.bikeforums.net/classic-vintage-sales/

Short of posting inflammatory or insulting stuff, you don't need to post apologies for being unfamiliar with the rules!

I missed your earlier posts and whatever fracas ensued, so whatever it was did not disturb the Force, Star Fleet may still cruise smoothly. As far as 99.9% of the members go, we're probably all in a state of ignorant bliss (except for all those little bike problems). So, welcome, new-again newbie!

Do you still have questions? I'm sure most of us will try to help if we can.

Note: Chain lube and a few other trivial issues tend to function as dog whistles.

Yes, agreed - just because a thread was removed doesn’t mean you offended anyone. I responded to the original thread and thought it was an interesting dilemma you have, and the folks here are uniquely equipped to offer relevant advice (both as bike experts and experienced sellers). I hope that hiccup doesn’t prevent you from posting further. I welcomed you before and welcome you again.

I've found this dusty corner of the bike forums to be the most helpful source when looking for answers on old bicycle questions. Lots of super friendly, ultimately knowledgeable, and ready to "go full on uber bike nerd knowledge with responses" people around. The only issue is my own... being shy about showing my bicycle ignorance. Sometimes, you get what one my perceive as a flippant response, but all-in-all, which one should (for the most part) take as friendly kidding, and shrug it off. These guys and gals are my surrogate buddy verbal peloton, as most people around me, their pupils start rolling up into their eyelids when I go off all bicycle talk on them.

Sorry this happened.

Maybe the mods could chime in, seems very harsh from here.

Absolutely no apology necessary.

Any faux pas was obviously not intentional.

You can ask the mods for an explanation.

Do not hesitate to continue to ask for help, there should be someone here close to you that would love to come see the collection and likely offer hands on help as well.

You could ask for help in the facilitators thread I think, maybe check with the mods.

A Premium membership would allow you to sell and ask for selling help and is a bargain.

We still want pics and lots of them if/when you can.

Please do not be put off by this, we will help you through.

Really, there is no reason to apologize. The mod team decided it was too close to a sales thread to be allowed in the regular forums. You can always upgrade and post a sales thread in the sales forum.

Thank you for your response in the original thread. I tried to respond but I was limited to 5 posts in 24 hours I suppose since I am a noobie here. Came back 24 hours later to respond and the thread was gone. Thanks for the welcome to the forum too!

Thanks for the advice. I did join the forum yesterday at the $12.00 rate. Does that allow me to post now in the sales forum? I probably won’t post much for sale as she has hopes of selling the entire hoard as one lot so I may post that after I get it all inventoried and photographed, which is a huge task. I worked 12 hours today just taking pictures of the “associated stuff”.

I asked for suggestions of how to help my daughter liquidate her recently acquired hoard of bicycles and associated stuff. Perhaps the mods mis-interpreted my agenda? Regardless I did get some very good suggestions before the thread was shut down. For that, I am very grateful for those responses. Just wish I could have thanked those folks prior to getting shut down. If those people are reading this, THANK YOU for your time and help!

Going forward I will try to put my questions in the appropriate forum and hopefully without violating any more rules.

Most of the time this doesn't pan out. Most people don't want to purchase a giant lot. They want to pick and choose and purchase what they want.
