actually the "portacatena holes" in the DO are better clues, cause I think that (vintage) Columbus decal is a red herring. The Portacatena was first announced in (around) '78 and didn't last much past say '83 depending on who bought stock and how fast/ how many frames, they built. Given that and the pantographing I'm going to guess later in the spectrum, maybe '82, give or take. That decal could also be very old stock but I'd bet it's an aftermarket replacement for one that flaked off, ditto the Campy decal on fork blade. Edit: according to the "Columbus decal timeline" that style decal was from '75 and changed in '78 to a version where there's no word "Columbus" in the red oval., I think this frame should have one with the blue border and bottom.
Real nice bike!

Magic. Agree with the early 80s estimate.

Sweet bike.

Looks like a Victory crank without the self extracting caps/bolts.

Found your thread (Hey look, I commented above!)

My understanding is, while they made production frames, numbers were always quite low. So while they're not rocking horse ****,, they're certainly few and far between. As far as I know they pretty much only did high end racing bikes, so that further reduces the spread.

I'm typing in past tense, but they're still operating: SOMEC || Tecnologia e Stile

I dream of owning a Somec.

Edit: they still do steel frames! With quill stems! https://www.somec.com/en/collection/steel_frames/rex/ I Somec.
