AMF Roadmaster
Looking for any thoughts on these bikes. I know that in the later 70's they weren't a good bike but I believe this to be around 1970. I can score it for a smooth $20.https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...07b1db3b14.jpg

Never mind I will pass on it. Thx

Sounds like its priced about where it should be. The basket to cruise down to the store will double its value!
Yep I'd basket that thing. Its calling for it. |
I'd wait for one that's in focus.

He jacked the price to $40 claiming its a valuable antique! LOL

Did he also say it was rare? I love that one. Perfectly serviceable bike not horrible at $20 but unless there is some sentimental attachment, like you had one when you were 8, there are better bikes out there and at this time of the year and with the way the vintage market appears to be going there are deals to be had. Be persistent patient and picky then you can spend the winter refurbing your find. Good luck.
As an example I waited this one out on CL it was priced to sell but languished. I threw out a $25 offer in week 3 of the ad and it was accepted. 1988ish Novara Ponderosa, house brand of REI, Japanese built steel MTB, full Shimano Deore drive train. The paint is in rough shape but the indexed Shimano Deore thumb shifters are worth the $25 just by themselves....Removing the book rest (it was a trainer bike) the bull horns and replacing the grips will improve the look significantly. IMHO, https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...f3abf3145d.jpg |
A roomate had one in college. Bad welds and press-fit joints at the dropout.
And look at what they did to Harley-Davidson if you need more convincing. |
Bianchi84- I was going to suggest getting it and fixing it up (pun intended) like one of the Little 500 rides! Just like the movies!

And look at what they did to Harley-Davidson if you need more convincing. It rolled down hill fast. AMF also made bowling balls. It weighed a couple of the 16 lbers. But it does look clean. |
