I've included the articles "The First Bicycle Race" and the second article in "A Ridiculous Contrivance", a history of the bicycle.
The first article in "A Ridiculous Contrivance" was probably in the Oct 1969 issue.
I don't have that issue. I want it. Give it up, hoarder. Cash money.

@SpeedofLite, thank you for posting this and the race which will celebrate the 150th anniversary in two weeks!
As an owner of a highly customized modern Dahon folder, I'd enjoy the article on the mini bikes.
You inspire me: I came across a 1976 edition of Consumer Reports and in this edition they evaluate fifty one different 10 Speed Bicycles. I need to scan and post that article.

I must have sneaked this one by you.
I had posted that article back in March this year and pdf is attached at the bottom in the OP of that thread: Road Test/Bike Review (1969) Folding "Minibikes"
If I recall correctly, you are planning an unsupported trip from NH to Newfoundland, and then back through Maine to NH.
How's that coming along?

The hoped for bike ride from NH to Labrador and back is on hold until retirement (2023). However, in talking to friends who have been in Labrador, they believe I'd be foolish to attempt such a trek and they've convinced Mrs. PB. I might need to go on a reconnaissance trip ahead of time via auto with bike just to see for myself. When I do it will be well documented here on BF.
Thanks for the link to the mini bikes. I'll need to read it when I get to a larger screen!

Sorry to hijack a thread.
Probably a stupid question but how do you copy these magazines??? Do you photo them?
My scanner is really basic and I would like to post some 1948-1951 Belgian and French cycling magazines on BF, even just covers.
They have TDF race photos with everyone covered in mud and dust (gravel roads) but photos are amazing!
Can someone advise, either here or by PM?
