Thoughts in this “Paramount”

Paramount on UK eBay

Schwinn? Or something else? Not much info, but the lugs look pretty decent.

Could be a P-mount, so that's a plus. Strange paint job, incorrect decals, and that's an ugly seatpost binder bolt arrangement.

Did older Paramounts have welded on housing stop?

I just got a message back from the seller when I asked about the manufacturer, they said: “Alan 'Pongo' Braithwaite in Mansfield. The refurb was carried out by Dave Marsh. The serial is a bit covered in paint. I could take the paint back to look but would worry others might not like thaat. He became Aende bikes.”

So doesn’t sound like a Schwinn!

Definitely not a Schwinn Paramount.

Pongo was good. Dave Marsh is good. As a first guess this was done for a member of Paramount CC. No effort to imitate a Schwinn. You have a first rate frame there.

Get together with the seller. He may know all sorts of things.

Hmm. There's still some room for more Paramount's on the seat stays.

LOL. Fork tubes have room for more "Paramounts" too! Since this thread is asks for "Thoughts....", my thought, which is worth exactly what you paid for it, is that this frame, as it's painted and detailed, is profoundly unattractive.

Is that a bad thing?

Looks like a nice frameset.

cudak888 11-10-19 04:54 PM

Not a Schwinn. Definitely has all the typical hallmarks of an English hand-built frame though.

.
...how could you not want to buy a frame made by a guy named "Pongo" ? :wtf: As stated above, that looks like a pretty classic UK road frame from maybe the 60's/70's. All the similar bikes I have ridden get very high marks for road worthiness.

looks like a Raleigh international to me

Looks British and is still likely a good rider. Any serial numbers anywhere?
