Clear Anodising

Has anybody re-anodised their bike parts in a clear finish? I have thought about doing some of my cranksets as a project this summer; luckily I am very near one of the few outlets in Australia that stock 98% Sulphuric Acid.

BTW, they are a DA 7402 and Mavic SSC

Are you thinking of setting up an anodizing line and doing this yourself? It isn't hard. You'll need tanks, heaters, temperature controllers and a power supply. There are some good online instructions on this. I have set up an small anodizing line for work.

Yes Velo, exactly that. It appears straightforward but with a lot of attention to detail required.

Hell of a first post, mate! I'm subscribed. :thumb:

Do us proud and document it all here, anodizing is something I've often thought of doing but never gotten around to, and I would love to see a post I can use as a nice tutorial, especially from someone on the bikeforums! I was thinking of doing some green anodized stuff for my Vitus 979.

Tumbling before anodizing is critical to getting the correct "sheen". I use 5/8 pyramids, green plastic media.

I appreciate that. I guess tumbling would help on the underside, in crooks and that
