Free Vintage Peugeot
A friend gave me his Peugeot road bike that has been hanging in his garage for years unused. I spent about 4 hours today cleaning it up, it was a filthy greasy mess. I’m going to get some new tires and pedals to start, hope to put lots of miles on my new (first and only) road bike! Here are some pictures. Everything is Shimano 105 too!

Nice score OP the components should have some markings on the back that will narrow down the years check out velo base I would guess early 90s

Who knew, it must be National "Give someone a Pew-got" Week.... What have I done? . That <----- one is a little (well, kind of a LOT) older that yours, but yours is very nicely equipped. Someone else will come along to provide more detail. But that 105 gruppo is fine stuff for "mid" grade, and has that understated elegance that's perfect for the finish on that frame. Those dual-pivots are just eye candy. I bet that bike will punch above its class.
I am to find out what the experts make of the D G R stamp. Could the frame have been made in what was then West Germany?

That style of decals was used '89-'92 if I recall (maybe to '93). I suspect this is probably early 90s, 92-93 if I had to warrant a guess. No idea on the model, pretty sure it'll be Canadian market though, and @T-Mar has always been really knowledgable about CAN models in the past ...

Is a tubing decal on the frame? It is internally brazed, so I would expect to see a Carbolite or Reynolds 501 decal.

My friend said he bought the bike while he was working in Norway. He moved to Houston in ‘93 from Norway, so maybe Germany is correct.

Looks like a very nice, mid level Peugeot from the late 80's to early 90's. The bike should be a very nice and reliable ride.
Only thing that might be lacking from this Peugeot is the "Frenchness" that Peugeot lost starting from the mid 80's when their bikes started to shed all the French components and even frame tubing materials from their bikes, which was a bit sad cause, that was what attracted Peugeot fans like me to their bicycles, in the first place. Nothing that Peugeot could have prevented, anyway, as they were just trying to adapt to and survive, a new bicycle manufacturing world that was being taken over by the new industral super powers from asia.
So, a Peugeot from this era was certainly very different from Peugeots from earlier years, not necessarily in a bad way, but in ways that owners of older Peugeots, might understand.

The DCR letters on the head tube are the initials of the 3 member frame building team that built the frame and finished it. I had a similar Peugeot Chrono with a similar triad.

Nice bike, cleaned up well and I'm sure you'll enjoy many fast miles riding it. Somewhat envious!

In 1990, Peugeot USA went out of business and Procycle took over the USA market, so the subject bicycle could be either a Canadian or USA model. The component group is Shimano 105SC which was manufactured for the 1990-1998 model years, but this is the earlier version without the self-extractor crankset bolts, so the components should be 1990-1992. During this period, the Peugeot model with 105SC was the Triathlon and the frames used an Ishiwata main triangle with generic forks.
It's worth noting that the bicycle is not full 105SC. The headset is 600 Ultegra. Normally, the headset is the component least likely to be changed and it would raise the possibility that the previous owner bought it as a frameset with headset, and built it up with 105SC. However, in this case, that seems unlikely. The Triathlon was spec'd with a cheap steel headset as a cost concession and the Triathlon was the top DBS model during this era. In fact, the Triathlon would switch to lugged carbon fibre and 105SC with STI for the 1993 model year. The decal style, DBS and 105SC with down tube shift levers, all fit nicely with a 1990-1992, Canadian manufactured Peugeot Triathlon.
