I’ve recently gotten myself into the Hollywood memorabilia auction scene, which is its own rabbit hole.
I’m trying to purchase items on auction and then flip them on eBay, we will see how that goes.
I currently have a number of wardrobe items worn by stars in movies, as well as props.
kinda fun.
among other things, I own the complete pool table set used in the Django unchained film (pool table, cues, rack, and the 9 ball), as well as a backup skull for the epic scene where Leonardo DiCaprio uses a saw to cut the skull of “Old Ben” to demonstrate the unique attributes of the “negro”.
I also have wardrobe worn by Kate Hudson, Penelope Cruz, and other stars.

I thought there a specific vintage stereo thread but I guess this is it. I had to send my ‘85ish RX-101 out for repair. The guys at Speaker World in Fort Wayne did a great job.
However I am wondering in this digital world where I can plug my tablet in and listen to iTunes or Pandora is a CD worth the money? I only have around 2 dozen and I think I’d rather buy used LPs than more CDs at this point. I didn’t think to get the model but the shop has a JVC carousel style for $85.

Interesting thread. Looking back over the past year's spending, I'd have to say that we spend money on good ingredients for food prepared at home, and next on health insurance and health-related consumables.
In the past, I have collected antique cast iron carbide cannons. I also fabricated long gone parts for other collectors and did restorations. That was an enjoyable hobby for me. Fortunately, my wife advised that I sell off all of my cannons and materials when the market was strong a few years ago. That was a relief to be out from under all of those things.
Over my life, I enjoyed audio and had a modest record collection. All vintage equipment and records were sold off 25 years ago. I also enjoyed reading and had amassed quite the book collection. Those are now all but completely sold off or given away as we've downsized for a move.
I do still buy bikes to refurbish, ride and re-sell. I'm keeping my tools, but have sold off the vintage bikes. I figure that only the modern bikes will offer the versatility and utility I'll need in the new down-sized world we'll occupy. With my side repair work, my bicycling hobby is fully self funded. That's the only way that we'd permit it to continue.
With the new home, and according to our budget plan, my money will go to property taxes, income tax, energy costs and pool supplies.

Stereo equipment and albums. Lots of albums, mostly jazz, but that’s been slowing down a bit since I rediscovered bikes.
Recently updated my speakers to Harbeth and my integrated amp to a nice tube beast. Those two alone equal a heck of an Italian road bike project. Finally got my stereo exactly how I want it, so it’s time for a project bike.

The cannon sump well is cast iron. The fuel is acetylene gas (formed by a measured charge of calcium carbide added to water). All that's needed is a spark ... boom. The cannon barrel may be cast iron or rolled steel, doesn't matter. No projectiles, generally, but the original versions (early 1900s) fired a wooden bullet.

The 1949 house resolutely remains at the head of the queue for our dollars; although until prices come down on, well, everything, I'm trying to hold off on projects. Indeed our cheap-n-easy winter task is repaint the entire inside of the house -- no drywall to hang or plumbing pipe to sweat. Yea! The bikes, the cars (Sunbeam Tiger, Honda S2000, Porsche Boxster) and everything else gets the leftover money.
The guitar thing is so tempting, not that I play -- my wife is learning. But she gave me a stern warning not to buy her any more guitars until notified. That said, if anyone has a pristine Gibson ES-335 they were going to throw out, I'll gladly pay shipping!

I haven't spent much yet but I am in the learning phase to start buying camping equipment. My son is pursuing an Environmental Studies degree with an emphasis in Experiential Education and it has brought me back to my original outdoor love of hiking and camping. Lately when I have had time to do something recreational, I have chosen hiking over biking every time and I am excited to extend that to overnights again. I may end up selling some of my bike stuff to make the purchases.
Edit to add-anybody know of a good hiking and camping forum that is similar to this one in feel? I am not necessarily looking for one that features classic and vintage camping equipment. More like one that welcomes in newbies with questions, has a friendly atmosphere and has a good archive for researching.
