Sun bicycle

I have acquired a sun bicycle, 3 speed sturmey archer kb7 hub and sturmey archer drum brakes, the bicycle was completely sprayed silver, the frame is currently at the powder coaters whilst I get down to removing the paint off all the parts including the rims, i was told its a sun gents special sports.

Welcome to the forum, Vintage bicycle! Within C&V there's a thread dedicated to all things English 3-speed. By all means head over there and start chatting. Sun is a great old marque and there aren't too many of them represented. When you get to 10 posts, you can (must!) share pictures.

.
...Raleigh bought up Sun when they were in the process of taking over the UK bicycle manufacturing business. They did put out some bikes that were branded "Sun" for a period of time. I have no idea on yours, but if the hub is original it might have a date on the shell.

I knew Sun to be a sub brand of Carlton before the Raleigh acquisition, but I’m not much of a student of that. A colleague of mine rides a chrome Sun, possibly a Cresta, that he’s had since his teens.
