1979 Trek Lighthouse
|
That looks like a 510 with some nice components and a lighthouse.
Perhaps the previous owner had a lighthouse fetish? Perhaps the previous owner thought that if a lighthouse safeguarded ships, why not bikes? Who the heck knows but this is weird. This sucker is brazed to the frame right? We need a thread for really weird mods to a bike like this. |
:wtf: I could see those birds making a big gash on my clumsy thighs!
|
I had never heard of a Trek light house, so I was intrigued when I opened the thread. Then, I thought that that lighthouse was on the wall. Now I see that it is actually welded to the frame!
That bike has some nice upgrades to it. Is that a TA crankset. I hadn't seen Matthouser (sp?) brake pads in a long time too. And it has Suntour bar con shifters. |

YO DAWG, THAT TREK IS LIT!
PS - think that front mech may've been maladjusted for a bit? |
Now it's more laterally stiff and vertically compliant.

One of the religious orders, Morman or Jehovah Witness have a publication called The Lighthouse. Maybe?
|
Looks like the lighthouse could be removed with some judicious hacksawing, filing, sanding and touch-up paint and then you'd be back in darkness again.
Speaking of weird mods, I knew a guy who drilled a hole down through the top tube of a Serotta Titanium SuperTourer right in front of the seat tube so he could glue in a brass wood screw to act as a pump peg. That's not the weirdest bike thing he did. |
This beacon is a trek towards the main triangle of this bike for those that can see the light. Not for the faint of art.
