Centurion with Campagnolo

I see this has a lot of Campagnolo parts on it, but I don't think it is one of the Cinelli Centurion Equipe bikes. Is this a Turbo? Other? Robbietunes, help!

Those are pictures of two different bikes in that ad.

The red and white frame with the Tange 1 sticker looks like an 87 Ironman Expert.

The other bike is on eBay -- SAME pictures -- being sold in Denver. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Cen...sAAOSwQpNeBRh7

The CL ad looks bogus.

That's 2 different Centurions for sure.
The red and white one is an '86 Ironman and the red one is a '83 or '84 Centurion turbo. It's Not a cinelli/Centurion.

The red one is not a Turbo. Most likely one of the referenced in this thread. Let Robbie take a look at it.

Early Centurion Cinelli Equipe?

Looks more like a 56 than a 58. Ugggh!

I think the Campy one is a Cinelli not a Turbo. The seat stays are not like my Turbo but like the Cinelli Centurion.

Wrong rear dropouts as well. You can see the Cinelli logo on the seat stay.

Similar red Cinelli Centurion frames have popped up for discussion before on the main IM thread and others.

The origin seems to be covered in this thread: Early Centurion Cinelli Equipe?

Two different bikes in two locations and, a cut & paste from Sheldon Brown webpage. No name or phone number. Hmmmmm.................... Ya think it looks a little fishy?

Not the Equipe.
Not a Turbo.
Not a Japanese Centurion.
Not a German Centurion.
Could be a Project.
Can't tell anything else.
Could be anything.
All I know.

So, the red bike on ebay is a legit offering of a properly identified bike in denver and the ad in the St Louis cragslistis for a red and white bike advertised with the pictures lifted from the ebay ad of a completely different bike -- maybe. Can't really tell from reading that ad exactly what the St Louis ad is offering for sale. Maybe it's an early April 20th joke.

Why the need for so many headset spacers on the red ebay bike?

That's an interesting question. did the Project bike come in as bare frames? Nice looking bike and nicely appointed, I think. Is that the decal scheme that the Project bikes came with?

Bike is way too big for me so I'm just asking out of casual interest/curiosity, in addition to being unworthy of such a beast.

No way of knowing "legit" unless you go see it. Im in St. Louis a lot, but no need to see the bike.

afilado here in BF had a nice one in blue, and there have been black ones out there. I saw the red one here in BF for the first time. Unless someone asked the right people, no way to find out. Without the web, doubt most of us would even know Cinelli made frames for other brands. I sure wouldn't.

Totally impressed with this listing.
The information is spot on and very detailed.

I heard the story from the principles at a sales meeting at WSI in the mid 1980's.

Technically, this isn't a Centurion Cinelli Equipe, which was a 1985 model bicycle. This is a Centurion Cinelli Project which was a bare frameset offered exclusively though Alan Goldsmith's Bikecology stores.

The listing includes a lot of information lifted directly from an article on the Sheldon Brown website that was written by former BF member Ashley Wright. He had obtained much of the information for that article via correspondence with my self about 13 years ago.

Sure is. Perhaps so about any headset could be used, from low stack to high.

A.Winthrop is one of my heroes. Met him once. He broke his pelvis riding a bike, and I'm not sure if he rides any more. Learned a lot from him about Centurions....he had an Equipe.

Also afilado , who had the nicest Project I've seen.

Miss them both.

So is the Ebay listing legit? If so, we can follow and see if someone gets it.
