What year/model Bianchi do I have?

New member to this forum. I know little about bikes except to get on and pedal. I have a Bianchi bicycle that I'm wanting to sell, but I don't know what it is. Local bike shop says frame in desirable to Bianchi fans and worth $$$$ and is probably late 80's or early 90's model. We have owned bike for 20+ years and probably ridden less than 100 miles. We have hauled it around so it has scratches and such. What I can tell about bike:
Celeste Green
Frame 57/57/4 cm
Dropouts stamped Gipiemme on each side
Top of forks are horizontal and have stamped ribs and Bianchi on each side
At top where seat post goes in is stamped M-M 1940
Has the following decals:
- Front Decal - Bianchi
- Made in Italy
- Columbus, Tretubi, Tubi Speciali Rinforzati
- 4 Blue Bianchi decals going up and down posts

Please help me describe this bike so I can sell it and free up some space. Also is it a desirable frame?

Sorry I can't post pictures.

Welcome to the forum. Based on the limited description, it sounds like an early 1980s, mid-range model. That M-M stamping should actually be an alpha-numeric. Definitely Italian manufacture. Ignore the picture restriction. They will post to a gallery where members can view them. Mid-range Bianchi frames from this era do have a following but condition is such a big factor in the value that pictures are mandatory.

The M.M is a double stamp. It looks like there may be a 2 stamped further around the back of the seat lug. This would fit with the era I'm seeing and make it a 1982-1983 model. Based on the Tretubi tubeset and presence of eyelets, it should be a Nuovo Racing model. At least the saddle, seat post binder bolt, pedals, shift levers and rear derailleur have been changed. For resale, you should change the bars and brake levers back to original position. I'd also invest in new handlebar tape or at least strip the current stuff off the handlebar. Selective photo assist:

Thank you for the information. I'm going to repost this over on the "what's it worth" thread to determine what I should ask for it. I have no recollection what we paid over 20 years ago.

Interesting. My Tre Tubi Bianchi is evidently a 1982 model made in late 1981 (1.M.... serial number). My decals look like yours, except gold-on-charcoal instead of dark blue-on-Celeste. Lugs look the same. Ofmega CX crankset, NR derailleurs, Modolo Speedy brakeset.

Thank you JohnE for the feedback. Because of the design of the front forks I thought it was early to mid 1980's, but again I know nothing except what other bikes on the site look like compared to it. Now I need to determine a value to price it for sale.

Good Morning and welcome to the forums. Any pics? The actual shade of Celeste has changed quite a bit over the years, and I believe way way back in the 50s it was actually more blueish. Trying doing a search in the forums for Celeste color code. With a good pic from an old catalog a good painter should be able to get very close.

My artist wife calls it "metallic Ralph Lauren brown." Bianchi's official name for the color is reportedly "charcoal." It is not the same as the brown I have seen on a few of the Japanese Bianchis (mine is prettier ).

That's it -- a nice metallic brown, which looks really sharp with the gold Bianchi decals down the seat tube and across the downtube. Decal font, including the leading and trailing horizontal lines, is identical to the OP's.
