No, not really. There are good decent performance 27" tires, but not really high performance on a par with what's available in 700C. Your best bet (both as a Best Buy and best available performance irrespective of cost) is probably going to be the Pasela -- which is a good, decent performance tire and not very expensive. But a Compass/Rene Herse it is not.

Folding or Wire Bead?

And also: Hooked or Hookless Rims.

I'm interested because I'm contemplating rebuilding some hookless 27 inch Weinmann rimmed wheels that came on my Motobecane.

Question 1: What is a high performance folding bead 27 inch tire that works well on hookless rims?

Question 2: Which wire bead 27 inch tire most closely resembles a GP4000 or the like? (Slick or minimal tread preferred)

Folding bead plus hookless rim is generally a very bad combination.

You value speed & rolling resistance? Good how about technology? 700c is the standard and there are far more options than 27" and you'll have much better performance. Since you are ready to replace your current set of 27" tires and you can't find a satisfactory replacement, maybe now's the time.
