I think this may be a Fuji frame judging by the headbadge? Any input as to the ID of this frame would be most welcome. Looks like original brake calipers at least and hodge podge of the rest. I guess he didn't have a spare front derailleur handy and note for some reason in one picture the top tube looks like it had a decal near the seat post and in another picture it doesn't. Repaint?

Not familiar with Fuji, so I can't help there. I do like it. And I'd leave it black, too. With the right components, It'd look really cool in a traditional French sort of way.

What does the fork crown say? I think I see spoke holders on the left chain stay, very cool item.

Hi - the bike is offered by a local guy and I have no idea who he is. It's my size and I think the estimate of a Fuji Series IV might be accurate based upon other internet pictures. It does appear to have spoke holders on the LHS stay. I haven't seen the bike in person. I look at something like this and ask "do I really need this? I'd have to do lots to it to get it the way I'd want it and even then would I like it enough to keep it?" Those kinds of questions arise. It's $200 obo. Others who have written about riding this bike enjoy it for what it does; ride well, but not fast, when loaded up. I can give the guy a standing offer of much less and if he sells it to somene else then that's ok. It's a huge bike and not in original condition so I think it might be a while before anyone buys it.

I am not a Fuji expert, but the only other tourer they made that I'm aware of besides the aforementioned Touring Series, is the America. For the apparent condition, I don't think $200 would be a bad price at all.

That is a very tall bike (looks like 27"), so I think you have room to negotiate on price. If it was my size and in good shape, I would pay about $150 for it.

The rack bosses on the inboard sides of the seat stays are cool, and rather unusual. Do they help narrow down a model?

Hi, thanks to all for your input on this bike. I don't want to be a "typical Winnipegger" with the guy (haven't even contacted him yet) and undercut him on his pricing but I have to be realistic with him and so does he with himself. Its' this marketplace. In another upscale marketplace it'd probably be gone by now. I just know that if that bike were in mint shape and original, he'd be tough pressed to get $250 for it and that is after a long exposure. It's a 25" frame.
There was this really fine original owners 22" Nishiki Continental (see below) which sat around for $275 for ages and several re-lists last year. She might even still have it after trying to get rid of it and gave up. 22" is a lot easier to pawn off than 25".
We'll see about this guys' Fuji. Maybe I can trade him something for it. It is one of those buys where it won't cause any regrets if not made... and we all know when those have happened!

Hmmm, well the Series V has that type of frame mount and it also has the mid-fork blade thread-on mount. So either the subject one in this thread is a Series V with a non-Series V fork, or perhaps a Series IV. Maybe some series IV had a fork offered with or without a fork mount. I don't know my Fujis but it seems bike manufacturers pull the old swaperoo sometimes.

mid- 1980s Fuji Touring Series IV frame The series III and V variants didn't have the shift lever bosses, the America had a different fork crown and lo-rider bosses. Serial number will corroborate.

The ad the guy wrote states 25" but I have yet to see the bike (I can ride a 25 no prob). Haven't even contacted him yet. Those wheels can't be the originals (?). Geezer, how do you like your ride? Tnxs for the input T-Mar. Methinks the guy selling this bike is sort of a low-grade flipper. Some guys really know their stuff and prep their bikes for sale in mechanically sound condition and I don't get that vibe from this guy based on other stuff he had listed in the past. This bike would be bought just for the frame, crank and brake calipers basically.

The more I thought about that ride the more I would prefer a modern Fuji touring. The new ones are a relative bargain which means one will eventually show up used for about half street price.
