Tires or Tyres???
Since most of us now have extra time to ponder... tires or tyres?
Two of my bikes need tires. 83 bianchi and an 85 peugeot. Just wrapped my ironman's with vittoria corsa, nice and sticky, but that's my fast bike. I'm itching to do the same for those other 2 bikes but is it overkill? Like lipstick on a pig, does a CV need sticky rubber or would some period correct gumwall cheapies work? I may ride all of them on half centuries but will I need to pay the extra $ for carpet queens? Will it even make a difference with the heavy steel frame. Thoughts? Help me justify taking money from my covid survival fund. |
Buy folding Paselas for the worse bike of the two, ride it, and then decide what the other bike gets.
As far as british spellings, I like "grey." |
Tyers are cheaper.

I learned British English growing up but have learned a lot of English on the internet through reading and forums.
Still prefer British spelling for things like tyres and neighbours though I am likely to be mixing accents and spellings. |
Definitely get the tyres, then noone can accuse you of prejudice against the letter “y”. 🤔😁😉 Any colour you like, as Pink Floyd tried to teach us. 😎

What you need on those euro bikes is tubulars.
Then you can forget about spelling. Get the nice ones. |

No offense, but the best defense against flats is a quality tyre - unless you live in the US.

Agh, not another British spelling invasion!! First it's grey and cancelled and now tyres? Just because they've left the European Union doesn't mean they can come over here with their funny spellings and their tea. Not to mention horrible brazing! I wouldn't say no to a nice Jack Taylor in my size, though...

It's time we moved on, to 'zed' vs. 'zee'.

We wish. When you people -- yes, it is proper to use the inflammatory and coded slur "you people" here -- try to abbreviate your tire choice (tubs, tubies, teletubbies, etc.) with your usual lack of context, we simple, regular folk have no idea what you're talking about.

besides SurferRosa, i know on those French beauties of yours you match the pneumatiques to suit the cadre and accoutrements de la bicyclette.

Neither. It’s “tars” and everyone from the south forgives you.
