That mirror setup looks really nice, GB. I recently picked up a newish used touring bike that had a mirror on it, and after riding with it once I was like "this is pretty nice". I can see cars but also my kids behind me when we're riding together.

Where's the Hats?
https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...9fba768384.jpg Actually, I wanted a matching hat for each bike, but the hat-rack already Runneth Over. https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...75c6282c6a.jpg |

I've got an old Dobbs fedora and an old Stetson cowboy hat with the cattleman's crease. I've never been big on the cowboy hat thing... Mine feels huge- like I'm super conspicuous with it on- but the brim isn't really wide enough to be of practical use. It's not wide enough to shield the sun on your eyes nor wide enough to keep rain off your face/neck. https://live.staticflickr.com/4743/3...7596567e_o.jpgCowboy hat and T-Bird by Dave The Golden Boy, on Flickr |
My hats
come in a multitude of materials and motifs. But recently, mostly rather... cheap. https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...9603718c40.jpg funny - just today I was told to Clean that Closet, relatives coming and Welcome for a long stay. So I threw a few on the bed and camera’d it. https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...0eef9d718.jpeg Only one Stetson, next to bowler. Couple of straw hats. Only a few cycling ‘hats’. DEC was a great customer over 2 decades. ‘Mid-watch at sea on the bridge’ cap. Backpacking in wet PNW = check. Party hat = covered. |
How could a thread on hats fall to Page3 in a Classic and Vintage forum?
https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...97b33e84f8.jpg edit: paging noglider - I know Tom has a few vintage cycling 'hat' experiences. They have been documented here. |
Wo! Wildwood has an orange fez!
"No, I'm never gonna do it without the fez on! Ohh no!" |

"No, I'm never gonna do it without the fez on! Ohh no!" Not a Moroccan fez. But what the hey? Potato, potatoe. edit: think celebratory smoking cap, east Ottoman Empire region. Party on Wayne! Party on Garth! Party on Surfer! Party on Wild! |

What is this? I won’t have you guys changing the topic of an extremely useful thread!!! 🤪😁😉 Nevermind, the fact that you actually own a porkpie hat, cancels all normally required etiquette. 🤔😉

Facebook notified me today that this picture is from 10 years ago. It's New Jersey's first tweed ride, which I co-led. I don't know where my other pictures. I'm the guy in the middle with the red 3-speed. My spouse is the second from the left. https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...746d46cd14.jpg |

With a title of "Got new hat!!!", the latest respondent's posts have finally righted-th-ship, if it must be said. And you will have to show me this pork pie hat, you mention. Never heard of such. None of these hats bought in America's burgeoning middle section. :D Do you mean a Steak & Kidney Pie? In Ireland & Scotland, more mutton than pork. And as to Eti-cute - What's that? Or better = Whose? Pork Pie eti-cute? :roflmao2: |
This thread took an awesome turn.

Which you don’t have. 🙄😁😉 Extreme bottom-right corner, in your pic, what is that thing called? 🤔 A lot of older guys wore those, in the ‘60s, but I think they must’ve been popular before that. |

There’s a butterfly grove near Goleta, CA, with trails going through some woods.

[QUOTE=SurferRosa;21479403]It's classic, vintage, and really rather dangerous.[\QUOTE]
Buster was from Kansas. Pork Pie hat is appropriate. If that's what it is called?!? stardognine - just an overworn Scottish houndstooth cap with a snap on the bill. Late 60s, kept because it reminds me of the lass who bought it for this foreigner. Mistaken on occasion, by unworldly folk, for an Irish tam-o-shanter. (altho', in it's worn-out-ish state, it does look rather round) |

What a beautiful place. I used to visit their a few times each summer and fall when I was at UCSB. The big migration is stunning if you're there during the right time. Trees just covered with butterflies.
