Old tire blues
 
Jumped on the Raleigh 2 speed to beat the early pandemic closing at our liquor store and thought I'd firm up the front tire and put 55 lbs in it. The wheel started thumping on way home while visually distorting in front of my eyes.
Here's a peek at the cord inside a 50 - 60 year old Dunlop EA1 tire. I deflated it to save the tube, also vintage EA1 size with steel valve. I've actually gotten hundreds of miles out of this tire and will continue to use the rest of my stock as they are NLA.
I knew it was cracked a bit but I didn't see the canyon living in there.

A lot nicer than the pinkish/blood red cord on the Goodyear that recently split apart on my ladies' 51 Sports. Got some footage of it too - have to dig it up tomorrow.
