I would happily get in on this. I've been going through my parts bins and have a few things that could be fun additions to the box!

I added some pretty OK crap and sent the BOC on its way.

ascherer,
Good job on making the box look like King Tut's sarcophagus again I trust it will travel well. You do understand that there is still a curse on the recipients of the Box O' Crap and that is the recurrence of the desire to see it's presence in your possession! I have added names in post #249 in the thread to keep some order for those playing along. The names are sequential so you have an idea of where you stand in the list. I will continue to change the post until such time chromoly returns or a new Crapmaster has been selected. Remember that the requirements for being designated Crapmaster are just like applying for tenure as Ben pointed out. Smiles, MH |

Alright, alright, I’m back in! Just tell me when it’s my turn. :thumb:

The BOC has landed.
Fortified box of 27.2 lbs holds up well (does '27.2' portend its contents? We'll see): https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...96d4dddad4.jpg And the great Rubbish Reveal: https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...91513b8c7e.jpg https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...6c3cadaadc.jpg Nothing 27.2, but still a few pieces of bounty that I'll happily keep to pad my crap bins: https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...687433b44d.jpg The biggest challenge was adding to the box to send to jPrichard10 . Not in finding stuff, but in getting all my additional crap to fit!! As it stands, the box is bulging and at 33.8 lb, so it's gained 6.6 lb! |
Southpaw,
Glad you found some treasures in the BOC! I'm asking for volunteers to step up and join the game. Smiles, MH |
That stuff isn't crappy enough.

I thought hard about that plaid bag. I'm a bit of a bag junkie...I exercised restraint. |
At the last minute, as a BOC series VII alumnus and full of crap as ever, I invited myself over to @southpawboston 's place to partake and add some of my own crap. I trust it is ok with the crapmaster! It was a crappy team effort. I took not nearly as good as I gave, and now the box stands at a whoppingly crappy 38.9lbs!! He got the label and I did the schlepping, so I wasn't freeloading!
https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...60362c9a23.jpg Here's my take. And I guess I forgot to photograph, a few toe straps. Seems I am always breaking them! Southpaw may remember me taking more, but that is because I had a good root through his private stash as well! He sure knows how to exercise restraint. https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...bd566442a0.jpg |
That weight is amazing. How can it get so much heavier than before?
That brake levers is one of my favorites. And how the heck do you break toe straps? Are you brutally strong? |

Actually you should have heard southpawboston telling me to pack the heavier things first, like he wanted to set a record or something! I was afraid I'd get a pinch flat on my way to the mailroom. And how the heck do you break toe straps? Are you brutally strong? I break frames, too. |
The BOC is so densely packed at this point I'm concerned the next recipient will need an extractor tool to remove the contents. That or an excavator.

Hopefully after jpritchard gets done, I can survive the crap carrying...uphold the high standards of refuse repacking...and sending the jetsam and flotsam onto the next unsuspecting victim without issue.

As long as you don't refuse the refuse, and sift through the grift, and use your smarts in repacking the parts, you'll be able to close the flap on the crap and wash your hands of the whole scam.

Pictures coming later today, but I'm afraid I had to remove some things just so I could get it closed! I'm hoping this doesn't ruin the spirit of the BOC or your attempts at a weight record: https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...e76b7cec01.jpg |
The arrival:
I totally forgot what was coming, as I'm awaiting a new frame in the post tomorrow. Did not expect a 40 lb box of aluminum and steel to come today. https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...05e4d30dc.jpeg The inevitable: I should have seen it coming though: https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...d82fc77be.jpeg The loot: https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...b06d16806c.jpg the real treat in here: guidonnet levers! These are destined for my wife's bike, which now needs a handlebar change to match. Runner up for MVP: self-energizing cantis, also for my wife's bike. The ugly: I consider myself adept at puzzles, but I was wholly unprepared for the task before me. Nearly an hour of Tetris later, and I had to remove some crap to not risk the ire of the postmaster. I thought I could fit it all if I planned accordingly and rotated the brake pads on all the calipers. Utter hubris. I had to remove the following if I was going to have a hope of adding anything: https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...59d83abbc0.jpg The final result: https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...4c2a11ef4.jpeg just kidding, this is no where near the final packing iteration. Rear derailleurs are especially hard to fit. I think I included some goodies for the next crapee however. Fin. |
