It's vintage air in there, let the new owner get that sweet whiff of mothballs and old machine oil.

Will be shipped flat to fit in envelope.

How do you flatten the box without opening it?

You're welcome.

I like to think outside the box.

Vintage_Cyclist 05-21-20 07:18 PM

Speaking of empty boxes, there are tens of thousands of empty products boxes, wrappers, etc. on eBay. I've seen plenty of cycling related ones that used to hold Campy, Suntour, Shimano, etc. components.

Presumably, some people are buying some of them.

Can you please confirm what colour the empty is?

Faded glory.

I grew up in Detroit. I can cut you and gut you before you hit the ground.

I can take an empty box on, and flatten it, 9/10.

Blocked and reported. You cannot buy my box, in any condition.

The colour of your soul.

Blocked and reported.

cudak888 05-21-20 08:28 PM

I'm egregiously blocking and reporting jiangshi for acts of egregious blocking and reporting.

James Brown.

Do you recommend insuring the contents if shipped flat?

Sorry. The box was originally flat when manufactured, so flattening it again makes it a pre-existing condition and thus ineligible for insurance claims.

-Kurt

tyler_fred 05-21-20 08:57 PM

Got it, no insurance. I’m going to pass on this box and look for one locally. I can’t justify the additional cost to ship as a box, nor the cost to restore to said condition should I choose flat-rate shipping..

Good luck with your sale..

jiangshi 05-21-20 09:08 PM

I'm done.

Obviously none of you appreciate the absolute pinnacle of Italian design.
The box is no longer for sale to any forum members at any price.

You have all been reported and blocked from any future sales.

Good day sirs, or madame's, if that applies.

Reynolds 05-21-20 09:15 PM

I'm considering buying it, but only if you ship it in a box.

I've heard it said that id someone has made something then somewhere there is a person who collects it. Think metal cookie cans. I bet there are people who collect old bicycle component boxes. LOL I wonder what value they have.

Cheers

don't know about vintage air, but a Little Old Lady used to come into the service station (boy am I dating myself ;) ) where my brother worked spring and fall to get the winter air out of her tires and summer air in and vice versa, She as sharp and insisted on watching the valve cores being removed, the tire flat, and then inflated.

So to be as sharp as her: How do I know there is vintage air in the box if it is not opened?

The big green thing in the middle is a box that has not been assembled yet. And no, I will not assemble and then open it!

You could always get a hipster in a leather apron to open it. That way if all the vintage air leaks out, it'll now be filled with Artisanal Bespoke Hand Crafted air.

Be gone, you vile noobie valuation beast of confusion! Substituting a question mark for a period doesn't make a question a statement! We shall banish you inside a theoretical box of which has six non-existent walls of despair!

Are you sure you didn't shut it just before "hope" got out? (especially relevant to know if it is a "Zeus" component box).

squirtdad 05-22-20 09:35 AM

Wow look at this offer from the esteemed Drillium Dude it is amazing https://www.bikeforums.net/classic-v...ing-boxes.html

Reynolds 05-22-20 10:22 AM

The posts about vintage air make me think of the short story Smoke by William Faulkner.

It probably comes in a nice big box.
