Parting out

It's been on CL for a long time. Didn't get any love (and I've not been giving it any), so I promised myself I'd dismantle it and sell off the parts if it didn't sell by the end of my final listing.

Today was a good day - the stem and seatpost came right out I will re-purpose the bar/stem and stick the rest on Ebay.

I know: n-1 isn't the typical approach on this sub - but it works for me.

Small low volume niche builders just get no attention often.
Then, sometimes all of a sudden there is attention. The market is fickle.

I was moving around a few in the bike room today, two will for sure depart apart.
It's the nature of things. Bicycles attract a "tinker class" collector, (I should trademark that)
They knowingly will pay too much just for the entertainment of amassing the parts, cleaning then assembling.
better than other diversions.

How unfortunate that it needed to be broken up. It is an excellent frameset and extremely pretty.

Also, I've never been able to keep this wheelset - particularly the rear - in true very long. It's been around; used on the Mexico for Cino '14, on the Somec for a season or two, and ended up doing duty most recently on the Sparrow. Also also, complete wheelsets are tougher to sell and go for peanuts. So, I had to find a solution.

Voila:

I plan on saving all the spokes/nipples (and the rim tape - emergencies only) for ready spares. Hubs will sell, but I dunno about the rims. Maybe I'll cut them up and save a section for posterity.

And with that I'm done wrenching (in an anti-clockwise direction for a change) for the day!

What a shame - beautiful frameset. Seems to have really lovely, understated lugwork.

There is ghosting that reads "HLC 2000" at the valve holes. To be fair, these are older rims. I never have any issues with my modern-ish Mavics from the mid-90s on.

I never liked to build Rigida aluminum rims in the 80's. Finally got the shop owner to stop ordering them.

Obviously, the reason to sell off the hubs is the atypical discoloration in the knurling on the QR lever side...

Ha ha - actually, they are surplus now. I have plenty of wheels, even a couple spare sets of tubulars. De-clutter in progress, slowly

I've owned three of those "butcher" covers during my record biz days.

Brought some decent coin from collectors.
