Just picked up an Nishiki backroads

I just bought a Nishiki Backroads mountain bike for $60. It is missing the shift cables, the 6 spd handlebar lever and kickstand. It has the 22" frame which is good for my wife at 6'1".
It has the Sun Tour 4050 accushift derailleur. I am trying to determine what shift levers to get for it. Should I just get some friction levers or try to find a set of Sun Tour 4050's? I found a nice Sun Tour Alfa 5000 but do not know if they will work with the 4050.
I know that it will need to be greased and probably need all bearing repacked.

I cannot post pictures yet.
There is a sticker that says ATB 4130 CR-MO
I do not know what year the bike is as I have not found the serial number yet.
I did order the Sun Tour Alpha 5000 shift lever kit after finding a spreadsheet from Nishiki that showed it would work just fine. I should have them on Sat.

Based on the combination of logo style and the Alpha 4050 drive train, your Backroads should be a 1988 model. Alpha 5000 was introduced in 1987, while 4050 debuted in 1988. Still, I would think that they would be compatible, as they are both listed as AccuShift 6 speed. provided they are both thumb shifter style. In the future, please submit photos showing the drive side, as it aids members in identifying the drive train, which can be informative in determining value, level and model. Photo assist...
