Chainwheel Bolt Circle Diameter - Campagnolo Nuovo Record

Does anyone know what the size is for the Nuovo Record BCD?

Who makes rings in this size?

Where does one go to buy replacement chainwheels for a NR crank? I have a typical 42/52 pair up front. I think those sizes are fine.

What's a good chain for a then-standard five speed freewheel? I am currently using a Regina Oro (drilled).

144. Sugino is a good alternative to Campy for rings, and they are usually less expensive at the only place to reliably find old school rings: Ebay. A great chain to pair with them is a Sedisport; Boulder Bicycle may still have some of their bulk chain for sale.

Campy NR BCD is 144mm. NOS replacement rings are available on Ebay- be prepared to put a significant dent in your credit card. Other brands to consider are Sugino, TA, Vuelta...

Yup. 144 and Sugino. I raced the Sugino Mighty. All Sugino rings except a Campy NR 43 I won at a race. I couldn't tell what rings were on the bike outside the tooth count.

I ride Sugino 75 now. Same 144 BCD. 1/8" track. Rings are Sugino 42 and a Campy 43 (again! Never thought about that before!)

Edit: I haven't ridden 3/32" old school chain and cogs for decades but I am virtually certain KMC still makes them. Probably just as good, maybe a touch less sexy than the Reginas of the say.

trend: both Sugino 144 cranks & the rings are not really cheaper than Campy’s on the ‘bay recently. lower priced 144bcd rings can be found under marques like SR (Sakae Ringyo, not Super Record) TA etc

Both Sugino and SR also make 144 bcd (bolt circle diameter) rings in drilled OEM configurations for a little bling. Also in silver anodized or black anodized. Used rings of any type will be cheaper so look carefully at pics when you are shopping. You could always pay $10 and put out a WTB thread in Classic and Vintage Sales here at BF, you might find someone has a nice one for not a lot of money.

Here's an NOS 52 tooth Sugino, drilled, $55, no affiliation
