Most of us would like to find the same thing and for you needing a small older one will be no small task. I don't think I have ever even seen any chrome ones for sale. You may be able to find a broker or collector to help but the ask will likely be very cost prohibitive, $$$$$$. When I jumped back into this 7-8 years ago I found a 1960 SC 62cm, my size, repainted, a bit rough, no headbadge but many of the special pieces, HS, SP, BB, SP binder bolt. Paid dearly, glad I did but still look for a complete that has not presented itself, yet. So good luck, you never know but if you have been on the hunt that long, you may need to temper your want, get something for a place holder, maybe not chrome, or another size up or down to maybe bring some karma your way, this has worked for me more than a couple of times believe it or not. ;) |
thank you very much for your kind welcome and experienced insights on my continued search.
i've gleaned much from this forum over the last decade or so and it has brought me tremendous joy and impossible expectations. i'm in debt to to you all... fortunately, i've got a few placeholders in the way of both vintage and modern builds. with this being said, i'm under no unreasonable amount of delusion to believe that once i find my dream bike, i will be completely satiated or finished, but, i would give up nearly my entire collection for it. perhaps, the chase is self-sustaining. nevertheless, this search has given me the opportunity to join a community of kindred spirits and that feels of privilege and i am grateful. |

Well, now you will have to share, sounds like you will fit right in, pics plz. 5 posts X 2 days to post them here, before that they will go to a gallery that may get moved here. There really seems to be no end, the hunt never ends, we just get a bigger ask, want, need, whatever and so it goes as with many things the fun never stops. Again, welcome aboard. And don't get me wrong, keep after it, the twists and turns become part of the narrative that make the wheels go around, and boy do they go around as you seem to know just as well as the rest of us. |

yeah...the owner offered me a deal on this one but alas the size is too big. spent way too many years with the perfect frames that were just too small or too big.
i have had the same experience with leather jackets and i'm finally learning. many thanks! |
this chrome frame has a huge dent on the top tube...otherwise, yes, it would be mine

It can repaired and rechromed. Another might never come along.

Looks like it, not my bike, just a casual search for his grail bike, thought he might be interested. Vintage chrome Cinelli Pista is a tough get, the top of his requested sizing with a typical track bike swing ding. If he was going to ride it he would want to pad and tape that area anyway. Plus with the small defects he might be able to negotiate a better price.
I knew it wasn't your bike, and that you weren't the OP. As the OP has already discovered, they are seeking a rare one. It was very thoughtful and kind of you to bring that example to their attention. Good on you. |
Watch ebay.it.
Pista frames can have very high bottom brackets, makes the head tube look large. Basically you can’t tell size by looking at photo. Leaves you dependent on a seller knowing something about what he has. Or viewing in person. Decide to do the chrome yourself. Good decals are still available. They vanished quick on chrome bikes that were used. |

Says 54 on centers. Good enough? My own Cinelli was 58cm c-t, sold that way, stamped that way. Pretty sure they accommodated the bike shops who ordered them. |
