if you're going to use the antique term jockey wheel then you'll have to also say idler wheel
as there is one of each on a rear derailleur. or you could just say derailleur pulleys

Of course red are faster. Their goal is to win.

“Usually violet has the highest speed and red the least. That's because of relative refractive indices.”
So there you have it. It just looks faster.

Believe it or not, the greatest undiscovered secret in cycling history is the Lexan frameset. It allows so much heat energy to pass through that the heat transfer that would otherwise slow the rider is reduced by nearly 42%, documented in hot air tests conducted by Hamsterdam University. I think that science should be brought to bear on the nature of colored pulley wheels. Everything else is just so much speculation. I found a video of a scientist who might be able to shed some light on this most important topic:

Missed this thread! Of course they are faster! Helpful accessories are red frame of De Rosa source, red on the pedals, red cable caps and of course a splash of red in the spokes to help find the valve stem in all the blackness.
