Facebook find

I found this Kestrel 200 on Facebook. According to the lady I got it from, it was her husbands. She said he couldn't ride anymore for medical reasons. She stated he bought it new but did not ride very often. She also said it had been stored in a closet for the last several years. It has all Campagnolo Athena equipment. It rides great but needs some tuning. This is as I brought it home today. I'll tear it down later and go through everything.

This would look beautiful with some used Record 11-speed stuff.

Man that's white-white! It always made me sad Campy didn't do a better job on their hardware, seems like all of the Chorus-to-Athena-era stuff had progressively worse issues with, like, the caliper hardware rusting all to hell. Total bummer.

But that's a hell of a find. What size is it, 56-57ish?

You are correct! The Campy Stratos 8 speed RD and FD seized completely after a winter on the trainer a couple of years back. Nothing could be done. A switch to 105 11 speed did the trick.

:thumb: Nice find!

That was a nasty closet. ;)

Beaut, the EMS is the later 200, supposed to be stronger or lighter, or something:foo: than the 200Sci, my Sci doesn't look quite so white (it's my "rain" bike)... Looks like the closet was a damp crawlspace. Evapo-rust! and ride.

Thanks for the positive replies everyone.
It is sad that the "best in the world" can't keep corrosion off any longer than Walmart stuff.
I'm going to ride it as is for a while ( have a couple other projects to finish first) but eventually I will tear it down and make it look nice and shiny again

Looks unnervingly like a ghost bike to me. Perhaps because I see so many in my area. I'd be tempted to switch saddle and bar tape color. Enjoy riding it, mate.
