Vintage FREJUS mountain bike
Hi all
I am eyeing up an old cheap Frejus mountain bike in excellent condition, looks almost unused, perhaps with its original tires. Purple/blue crackle-splatter paintwork, Shimano 3x6 speed SIS.
I cannot find any information on these bikes, other than company history and their road bikes.
This one looks to be early 90s, but cannot be sure...
The shimano friction shifters might just clinch the deal!
Any information or knowledge would be welcome, thank you.
Regards
DC

Look for a serial number on the frame. That will help find which Asian subcontractor manufactured the frame and when. It looks on the low end, judging by the parts and frame features.

thanks, I have no doubt that it is nothing special. I only have photos whilst waiting for the seller to get in touch.
Are there specific indicators as to where manufactured? That would be helpful.

I am waiting for the owner of a good classic Frejus to jump in on this thread: "That's not a Frejus. That's a Frejus."

I concur, this is low end, even department store level. Both wheels have nutted bubs and the rims appear to steel. The crankset appears to be of those steel units with the plastic/nylon covers. Derailleurs are bottom of the line Tourney models.

Perhaps I’ll just step away from it quietly....
