I think he's miffed at investing time and thought into the posts that got lost when he tried to post pics.
Happens to all of us as well.

OP, you can hit the little red circle at the bottom left of your post and ask the mods to delete. But you shouldn't. Tough it out, it's a great forum.

What do you suggest I do? Make ten posts of an single exclamation mark? Or abandon this venture, and depart into the long night unfulfilled?

Keep posting, but make them not devoid of bike relevance. Another person who grumbled about this was told by a Mod not to post nonsense because I think they might have a filter about that.

So. I also have a Masi. Talk to me about yours!

To any Mod who may wish me to give evidence: I can't, I don't have any.

To John R: send us any kind of content because as soon as we have a dialogue going, you'll soon be over 9 more posts! It won't take long!

You didn't have to take the C&V certification test? You need to scan the ID card before your real posts will be accepted.

Luckily for all of us I'm not telling anything like truth in this post!!

Which ones? One would think that someone in "Great Briton" would have a bit more knowledge of the known world.

North Americans? Canada? United States of Mexico?, United States of America? Other?

South Americans?

This is a wonderful forum with all kinds of different people from all different walks of life and different countries. People who come here come to ask questions, provide answers, share excitement or just to show off- and that's wonderful. I love that excitement people have- especially 'new' people showing off bikes that get them fired up enough to join a forum to show off.

If you've been around internet forums back in the old days, there used to be the "user" that would show up posting scams, racist links, porn, or some sort of troll-ish behavior. The '10 post/2 day rule' has cut a lot of that off. No pictures or links until then. I'm thankful for it.

I'm really sorry you put a lot of time into taking pictures and talking about your bike only to have it rejected- you're an eloquent writer. But if you want to share your bike, your stories and read and learn about others' bikes and adventures- this is the place to do it to a world wide audience. Go talk bikes for 2 days, do some "Masi" searches- the 10 posts goes by in no time.

the C&V crowd are pretty tolerant... save the one New fellow who repainted a gas pipe level frame into a DeRosa... and wondered where the applause was.

It wasn't, for sure.

The complaining about the ten post rule has got to be the most ridiculous thing I see around here. Chee-sus! Ten posts is too hard? Like we're all suffering because one can't show off their freakin' bicycle immediately?! A Masi can be googled.

It's pretty easy to reach ten posts. The filter is there for good reason. Either accept it or don't. Save the boo hoo for other outlets.

Or just go ride your bike.

All while people of the forum have tried to give you suggestions, and actually posted your photos FOR YOU...

and now you want to leave?

Bye. Good day. Have a great ride.
BITD I used to like to play pickup basketball. First time at a new court it's an unwritten rule that you don't complain, don't trash talk, and follow the unique, organic rules of the court until you become a "regular". You earn the right to complain, argue about rules, and trash talk. Hustling, rebounding, and passing get you cred, ball hogging, hero ball won't.

Bike Forums, especially the C&V forum is a community. Coming in and complaining with your first few posts won't make many friends here. This ain't Facebook or Twitter.

On the other hand, some of my best friends were met through this forum, because it ain't Facebook or Twitter.

To follow your basketball metaphor: "I'm taking my ball and going home."

I'm always puzzled when we welcome newbies, explain the drill and then wait days for them to get on board, even the ones that seem to get it usually can't get to any other thread to bolster their count, cred or acumen.

Makes no sense, what do they want, we give em open arms, the help here speaks for itself.

Gonna add this instant gratification expectation to the threadless, cartridge, disposable, cookie cutter, crap that seems to be more insidious all the time.

Get off my lawn!

It would be nice on the moderator end if we could flip a switch and turn off the automated rules when we realize we are dealing with a real person. But that's just not how it works, and the rules are not so onerous that it should scare away most people if they seriously want to contribute to the forum. I post people's links and pictures for them when I see that. I'm unapologetic about the rules though, the bad old days were a lot of work for an unpaid job. Even now, it's a bit of a pita

in some cases there is excitement and the 10 post hurdle stops that immediate gratification cold. Think Twitter- immediate. C&V is still pretty fast, but there is a delay in gratification at the start. Maturity is an acquired attribute.

It was snide and quite inappropriate. You're one of the reasons I don't post here much anymore. It seems you've elevated yourself above the golden rule.

I'm sorry I've ruined the forum for you. There is an "ignore list." You can block all the other "high-post-count users" that you seem to have a problem with (whether they know it or not).

As far as whether my post was snide or inappropriate... if someone has 4 posts and 3 of them are complaining about how the forum is run and taking a potshot at people's nationality... Snarky, yes. Inappropriate, no.

As far as the 10 post rule- I've been a member of several different forums during the 00s that had issues with virus filled spam and pr0n links. That not only puts the real forum members at risk, but it also makes work for the (unpaid) moderator and admin staff. And that's just the automated bot or drive by posters- then you have the people that have their own agendas... The C&V community is a "community." Although you seem to see this community as 'toxic' and filled with bullies- this thread had 19 posts of people trying to be helpful, but the OP still complained about the forum... As much as I look around the internet, I see other forums that don't have this sense of community, or don't have an appreciation for older bikes, or are tolerant of newer bikes, or an honesty without superiority about entry level bikes- the vast amount of knowledge and the willingness to share that knowledge (even to non-contributing DKOs)- and parts and that camaraderie is here. I'm sorry you see it otherwise.

I belong to several forums with the 10 post rule. One even has a 50 post rule!! Who GAF? Just STFU and go thru the initiation rite smiling and have a good time.
I mean, people seem to get upset about some really strange things. I was away from here for awhile and somehow everything I had posted had disappeared! So for reasons know only to the Masters of the Cosmos I had to start over. I survived.
