PJ1 Epoxy aerosol?

I ordered a can of PJ1 Honda Red epoxy spray paint to respray one of my frames. I recently used some Rustoleum black appliance epoxy on a Nitto stem and was very pleased. Unfortunately there aren 't a lot of red appliances and this frame is bright red. I found PJ1 epoxy online which is made to match factory motorcycle colors and they have a Honda Red that is very close. Online reviews were mixed but it does appear most of the recent reviews have been positive. The major complaint in older reviews seemed to be cure time. Some claimed it never did fully cure and scratched easily. Of more recent reviews it seemed it was spray pattern and clogging but a few people said if they took extra effort to agitate the can it worked fine. They also said it was quite durable.

I swore I'd never rattle can another bike frame but, here I go again. I also bought a can of their clear. I may see if my cousin has any "Frog Juice" though. He makes vinyl signs and uses it for UV protection. It's guranteed for 8 years of constant exposure IIRC.

I'll post updates once I get the product in hand and start the process. They don't have a big color selection other than the Honda Red, white, black and clear. All I've seen otherwise were Kawasaki Green and Yamaha Blue.

I feel the same way about rattle-canning bikes as you do, Double-M, but there are several companies who have really taken the process to new heights. More expensive than normal cans off the shelves, but high quality spray heads and contents. They are pushing the envelope for what a spray can is capable of doing. I'm planning on doing a couple spraycan frames this winter using some better paint.

Note that the temperature, the humidity and the coating thickness can all have profound effects on the curing time.

Also to be considered is whether the product is agitated and kept that way during spraying.

Up high in a hot garage should speed things up once you've gotten the paint applied.
