Sometimes, the saltiest sellers have the sweetest stuff.
Not sure about this guy but I've seen it.

This market is wildly inconsistent. Vintage stuff is overpriced (particularly on eBay) and nobody wants it. Cheap stuff is overpriced and nobody wants it. But if your bike is from one of the large brands (Orbea, Focus, Trek, Canyon, Cannondale, Specialized, etc.), priced reasonably and under ten years old, it sells, very quickly.
I think everyone is going a little stir-crazy, thanks to the pandemic.
Some eBay sellers have an issue with malignant narcissism. I had an encounter with one of those people earlier this year.
I'd purchased a Campagnolo Record headset advertised to be in good, functional condition. Upon inspection, bearings were found to be badly corroded, with a severely pitted crown race. I figured the seller hadn't checked and that he'd be fine with a return.
The seller proceeded to tell me (in condescending fashion) that I didn't know what I was looking at, that he was a bike builder and that the headset was sent in usable condition. The photomicrographs and SEMs I took of the damage were then uploaded and I had eBay handle the claim, which was summarily refunded in full.
Narcissistic doesn't mean smart.

Add to that the fact that new bikes are flying off the shelves....
Which means more people on bikes and that means that cycling will "stick" with some, while many buy bikes that sit unused. Those new enthusiasts will go down the rabbit hole and some will end up here

I have had about two or three bad experiences and hundreds of good ones so I keep shopping. I rarely sell, but have and generally goes well. My experience with trying to correct a bad listing has never been well received. A 1972 Raleigh Competition GS that I messaged to inform the seller that the GS was not produced until 1977, no response. The Campagnolo Superleggeri “Super Record” pedals with steel spindles, I informed the seller that Super Record had titanium spindles, no response , and so on. I guess folks get it in their head what they think they have and not open to correction so I don’t do it any more. Just frustration that I don’t need.

Sometimes when my better half asks me to sell off some stuff that I don't really want to let go, I list it for a ridiculous amount just to come back at her to say, sorry 'hon, it just didn't sell...let's wait until next year to try again.
