Can you recommend a supplier for leather classic road shoes ?

Flat sole for clips 'n straps or cleated (3 or 2 bolt?)

I am currently using these Ribó Mendrisio Corsa shoes (with cleats). Like 'em just fine. I'd been riding for three years or so with a pair of Hasus shoes (Taiwanese, model Vintage 01 I think) without cleats. Also liked them, though they are much different than the Ribó shoes sold by Magliamo and others. I also have a pair of old Detto Pietros I found locally in CL. They seem a bit tight, so I've not gotten around to actually trying them out on a ride.

Flat sole for clips and straps

I had flat sole shoes many years ago, when you climb or really Crank it your shoe tends to slide out no matter how tight you cinch the straps , ( At least for me) give cleats a try. When you get used to them they function very well.

Back to the Your Question, Classic Cycling Shoes are a major P.I.T.A. to procure if you have big feet. There are tons available if your under A size 9.

Thanks for the response. I also used flat soles, toe clips and straps, years ago. I recently acquired a mint 84 Trek 770 with Campy Super Record gear and Campy pedals that are crying for clips and straps. Kind of a nostalgia thing but I want to get the clips and straps and some classic road shoes so it will all be original. I use Speedplay Pedals on my other road bikes and Campy Ergo brake shifters. It will quite different riding the old Trek with downtube friction shifting and clips and straps. :lol:

I see "classic" cycling shoes on Ebay, Some nice leather ones that would be in this vintage category. I need to learn more about it. Some of them are pretty pricey !

I just finished a ten-day tour with them and they turned out to be pretty comfy, both for cycling and walking. I'm happy with them.

Yes, Vintage Cycling shoes,, and just about anything Vintage cycling has seen a very sharp price increase. The prices have gone thru the roof as many people are Buying/Bidding on the same products driving the prices up..Figure out your shoe size and get on the hunt. Good quality shoes are out there,, you just goota look.

If you are not going to use a cleat, you need a rubber sole. I’m one of the few who still rides with toe clips and straps. Been riding with clips and straps for decades. Never went clipless.

I have a pair of older leather Italian road shoes with slick plastic soles. There is not a chance you can ride in them without cleats. I’m not sure I would even try to walk in them without a cleat.

I stopped using cleats a while back and went with a Specialized touring shoe. My current shoe is the Elite Touring with a rubber sole. Not vintage, but looks like a road shoe.

There are vintage looking leather shoes out there, but you will pay for them. Your best bet is to find a good pair of Bata Bikers. Non-cleat vintage looking leather cycling shoes are a real niche item.

mastrofisso in Arezzo, Italy. They have two models, one with a classic flat sole that will require cleats. They will mail order pretty much anywhere. Run by a very nice guy named Mattia Fracassi.

I visited their stand at L'Eroica last year as mrs non-fixie was looking for new shoes, and held their shoes in my hands. Very nice shoes! Nice people too.

They are also responsible for these really lovely Faggin shoes.

I liked these, but they got vetoed by the mrs :(:
