Chrome Fork-What Color Would You Paint The Frame?
I'm planning to rattle can a Schwinn frame that's been sitting around the shop.
The fork is fully chromed and I want to keep it that way.
Any suggestions on what color for the frame?

For me to offer a color choice, I think I'll need a little more information.
What bike/frame is it
Do you want to keep original
What are you goals in painting it
What will the bike be like when done
What are the bike and styles that you like
What's your budget
What is your skill level with paint and prep
How nice do you want this to be
I once painted a bike with one can of blue paint and then used cans of white, light green, black and silver to create fades. Back when that was just coming into style. I had the white green black and silver already, so this was a thrifty paint job. It came out well. I ended up getting some graphics and then rattle can clear coating it.
Every color looks good with chrome.
And pictures help.

I've got a friend who insists the only cool colors are black and chrome. However my choice would be purple. Chrome accents that color rather nicely.

The correct answer is Sherwood Green, like on a vintage Fender Jaguar

I do think that ORANGE would be a great choice. I also think that YELLOW or PURPLE would also be great too!
Hey, there are so many great colors available from all different spray paint vendors/manufacturers.
Many folks that build project bikes on the C.A.B.E. Forums do seem to love that 2X Ultra Cover Paint + Primer.
There are some great Orange colors and Yellow colors in the Farm Equipment and Tractor paints at places like Tractor Supply and ACE Hardware.
There is a strikingly bright YELLOW that comes in 15oz can at Home Depot/Lowes...it is safety yellow for industrial plant use for marking etc.
I used it to paint an old Schwinn frame which after letting it dry & harden-cure for about 4 months, I built a bike and installed new repro decals before assembling it with new cables-housings etc.........It is super bright and glossy and really compliments the mirror shiny perfect Schwinn chrome fenders and chromed stem, handlebars, and ashtabula 1-piece crank. Choose the color that you like the best! Have fun. Super bright and visible from one mile away isn't something that everyone likes, but bright and visible may help somebody driving a F150 notice you far enough in advance to not run over you. Gray and other colors that blend into the road suroundings might not get the attention of that daydreaming F150 driver before he is about to hit you. Color could possibly help, so do remember that when you choose your next helmet and additional attire.

Schwinn? Easy. Paint it Frankenstrat style. Be sure to use actual Schwinn paint, like EVH did.

Frankenstrat, reportedly repainted in March 1979 from white and black to red, white and black, using Schwinn bike paint.

Since we've got the guitar references going, I'd suggest opting for flash and going the Tommy Thayer route.

Look how good that goes with chrome!

Eddie? Just Wow. Saw Van Halen in 1980.
The frame in question:

It's been sitting around for quite a while. I had it blasted way back when.
After a lot of sanding recently:

Photos are after three coats of primer and one of color. I used rust stop Ace grey primer and their safety orange.

It has about four coats of color on now. I plan to add a clear coat soon.

The local Jeep dealer had one of those Gladiators painted like that out front for a few weeks. Reminded me of a late ‘80s Fuji

I like yellows that aren't too bright. kind of honey butter/burnt yellow
but as for other colors I got to say that orange is timeless.
