Help needed to identify a frame

I have a friend/acquaintance that is trying to identify a frame, it has no headbadge it has a sticker on the top tube that reads "Criterium" not sure if that's original. I has a shimano 600 arabesque group and suntour GS dropouts, he says that the only thing he can see as far as a serial number is a 7 stamped on the bottom bracket.

any thoughts or information would be appreciated.

Need better pix to help you with the ID: focus on the head lugs, the seat cluster, the forkcrown, the brake bridge, the BB shell, the Dropouts with the stay ends, and the forkends.
If I was to take a complete "spitball" of a guess with the very limited clues so far: maybe a Windsor from the "Tange tubing" late production era. but would not put a nickel bet on that!

That is a HKB Chimo, my kid has one I found for him. ;)

Here's an example, not ours.

"Chimo"? Don't know that make but...checked these archives and there are a few threads. Don't see any that matches this (exactly) and most are a few clicks down the chain in terms of quality.& components. But as good a guess as any I might have. If it is a Chimo (or something else out of Japan in the same era) it could be Tange Champion #2 , which Chimo did use on one of their models and would make sense with the chrome ends and Shimano 600 (Arabesque) I reckon.

And thanks for the better pix, much more helpful! :thumb:

one manufacturer you may wish to consider is Matsus***ta

do not wish to assert an identification, only a possibility to consider

whatever it is it is certainly a midliner as in a two up from the base sort of model

The censors don't like that name but same as Panasonic and National (and spelled Matsush--ta)
