Frames and Framebuilding (1983) USA Framebuilders Come of Age

This is sort of a weird combination of road test/framebuilding information with a dash of national pride.
USA frames featured are from Bruce Gordon (Chinook), Richard Sachs, R. Brian Baylis, and brothers John and Richard Murphy (Columbine).
World frame comparators are from Gitane, Cinelli, KHS, Bridgestone, Technobull, and Chas Roberts.

Could you reformat that one page at a time? I can just barely make out the text and with my not-so-young eyes, it's an exercise I am no willing to do.

So the builder of my 1979 Peter Mooney was under-age? That'd be news to him!

I understand. I have the same challenge.
I have to combine pages to either keep the post under the maximum limit of 10 images (as is this case), or to ensure a photo or table that crosses the spine is presented intact.
For reading, I usually just increase the zoom level on my browser, but realize shifting the image around might be irritating depending on the size of your screen.
Here's a link to the article in pdf format available for about a week: https://1drv.ms/b/s!AgHfxA8atbGnlkE0...IrXsl?e=8lTQLj
Hopefully that helps!

They only got better after this article. Many more unmentioned, but there were/are some real masters out there.

Nice to see that Sachs kid get a break in an article like this. I wonder what ever became of him?
Also nice to see Brian Baylis covered too, as well as Bruce Gordon. So much talent, and still so hard to make a living at this craft.

Each of these guys has/had a special style and skill, making them unique, but they were all amazing! And of course, each developed into their own personality.

Thanks for sharing this article!

This one of two issues that I remember to this day. Columbine mesmerized me.

The other was the issue with a Ciocc Mockba road test.

Try right clicking on the photo you want to view. It should open another screen then right click again and it should zoom in.
