Univega Gran Turismo F&F Free for pickup
Univega Gran Turismo frame and fork. 23". I believe its an '84. Free for pick up in Morris county, NJ. Frame has some surface rust spots.

Looking kinda spiffy! Besides having to track down a set of decent cantis, and special order for that yellow cabling, I raided the parts bin for everything else to make this first draft from the kross57 donor.
Just a shakedown so far, so cheapo pedals, untrimmed cables, placeholder grips etc etc....

=) city apartment living means "parts bin" space is super tight, so it's a constant churn of nicer-in,-less-nice-out. it can be surprising how quickly the bin stuff becomes nice, and I can end up struggling with decisions when making a street beater for friends. Still, it's a parts bin so those are battered Soma Oxfords, and not fancy heat-treated Albatross. that old XT RD, meanwhile, has been waiting for something exactly like this...

Wow niliraga , that looks great. I like the pedals. The grip, well, I look forward to seeing what you put on there. I have been liking cork grip lately. I've seen some good looking leather wrapped grips , and you could wrap the leather over the shifter cable.
How do you like the barcons? Do your knees hit?
This could be an inspiration bike for me.
Perhaps you can keep us updated when you put on new grips and make changes.

the goal is cork tape for that area, leaving the track grips ahead of the levers. but first i need to dial everything in (that stem may need to go longer?) and see if barcons+knees is an issue. oh, and at some point i want my 700x40 Supremes back in my hoard, and i'll need to find 32 or 35 to allow for some fenders.
