I recently picked up a set of Simplex SJ braze on down tube shifters for my Carre´. Is there any reason I couldn't attach them to a Simplex band?

Let me look back through my saved emails. I had a note that covered this very subject. But I recall that Huret bands were used for some reason. Will get back to you.

EDIT: Turns out my emails involved repairing a broken set of clamp on retrofriction. BUT, and this is not to be taken as a snark, search "convert braze on retrofriction to clamp on" and you will find at least two threads dealing with your issue.

like this ?

Yep can be done .
I do have this vague memory of having to faff about with rear plates to get the correct stop point.
(hope that makes sense)

Jeez. Maybe I should take remedial reading. Nowhere in the OP is there mention of retrofriction. Mea Culpa.

AZORCH-

Should be doable. The Simplex levers you show have the old M5 x 1 thread and may/may not fit the thread of the band. If not, use a more modern Campy style lever screw in M5 x .8 as appears to be the case in 1simplexnut's photo example.
