Can anyone ID this stem?
As I'm pretty much a noob to vintage parts, I do not recognize the logo on this stem. Can anyone identify it? It's made in Japan.

I'd bet it's not really vintage. That logo came along in the mid- '90's IIRC, when Taiwanese parts started hitting their stride. Why do you think it's Japanese?

I do see JAPAN stamped on it!
I seem to recall this brand first appearing on lower-end Japanese bikes from perhaps mid-1970's, but this one does look a decade newer in style. |
"Win" or "WinPista" was a brand of the Japanese company Kusuki, that made stems and bars. A lot of these were spec'd OEM on Nishiki bikes in the '80s, but I know that Kusuki also made steel BMX bars for Redline.

I think I've see Win parts on ~1980 or even late 70's models?

It's the Japanese stem equivalent of a 15mm craftsman wrench. That's a compliment.

The Win brand dates back to at least 1977, when their stems were being spec'd on lower end Nishiki models.
