Road Test/Bike Review (1986) Buyers' Guide -- 5 Touring Models

Bicycling magazine's 1986 Buyers' Guide contains road tests/reviews of 14 featured bikes (5 Touring, 5 Racing, 4 ATB) and a table of specifications for 191 bikes total.
Categories are Touring (sport touring, loaded touring), Racing, and ATB.
I'll post this in chunks over the next few days.
This post presents the featured Touring models -- UNIVEGA Gran Turismo, BATAVUS Course, SCHWINN Voyageur, PANASONIC Sport 1000, and MIYATA 610.

It's interesting that in 1986, all the bikes are under $500 (roughly $1,000 these days-so not "cheap"), and there's only a couple with cantilevers. It kind of shows how precipitous the drop in popularity touring bikes suffered from 1985 to 86.

I don't know how realistic the chart things are, but notice how dominant the Voyageur is compared to the rest of them.
