What is considered vintage?
I have a 2000 Gunnar Crosshairs. Is that vintage, or does it have to be 30, 40 or 50 years old? Does collectibility come into play beyond age? Or bike features? GC first made 1998.
Just wondering.
Right now I'm having fun converting the GC into a more comfy machine for my aging body. North Road bars, bar end shifters, etc. Thinking about the saddle, suggestions welcomed.

25 years old or older. But everyone else disagrees, as I recall. Generally speaking, the older a bike is the more collectable it is likely to be.

This question. This question is vintage because its been asked dozens of times over for years and years now. It, like a vintage bike, is old.
I would say anything from a quarter century ago is vintage.
And anything with typical tech from long ago is classic- lug frame, level top tube, 130mm or narrower spacing, quill stem, etc are all typical features of what I view as classic.

to me, if the year of the bike begins with 20.. it is not vintage.
When is a bicycle considered "vintage"?
So what's the difference? Classic vs Vintage
How old is Vintage, and where the bar for Classic?
Definition of "Vintage"
Just what determines "Classic &/or Vintage"?
What qualifies a bike to be either classic or vintage?
How Old Is Classic, Anyway?
How old qualifies as vintage/classic?
What is a classic or vintage bike
Just what determines "Classic &/or Vintage"?
Q: Is there a formal definition of Classic or Vintage?
What constitutes a Classic or Vintage (How old ???)
Define "Classic" and "Vintage," please
How do you define a classic and vintage bike?
What is the definition / cutoff date for Classic & Vintage?
What does Classic & Vintage mean??
Define "Classic & Vintage"

of lasting interest and importance; venerable
old-fashioned; dated
It seems to me that you cannot pick an arbitrary year since it will always be a moving target. Even todays most modern "wonder bike" will at some point become old fashioned and dated. Personally, I would tend to go with the DMV definition of vintage vehicles being those who are more than 25 years old.
Defining "antique" is no easier of a task since something being antiquated is a subjective call by the observer. To some people anything that is pre-carbon fiber or electronic shifting is antiquated. Maybe this forum should be renamed "Old fashioned and dated bikes!"

There is no definitive answer. Our Classic & Vintage forum is inclusive, not exclusive. If you feel it is vintage, or classic, that is good enough for us.
