Vintage Bianchi 1981 - thoughts?
Hi! I am looking for a nice old bike preferably one with original parts. For some reason I have always been interested in older things than their counterparts - the new stuff. IDK y. Anyhow, I found this near mint condition Bianchi bike on eBay and I wonder if it is worth spending this much. Off the bat, I think it's overpriced but given the condition, would 1k be fair? Check out the link and please lmk what y'all think! Thanks and cheers to a new year.

$1,440.00 cnd or 1,130.65 US - not a single chance in Hades! In my opinion, and I have owned/ridden very similar Bianchi bicycles. For that kind of money, you can buy a bike right here on Bike Forums that will blow your kilt up. You might want to join the For Sale forum (small fee but really worth it) to let us all know what you seek. My guess is that you will be impressed.
I would definitely pass on that over priced mid level Bianchi, even though it does appear to be in great shape.

Yeah, wow! That is hugely overpriced. Don't matter what condition it's in, it wasn't ever worth that kinda money to begin with.
Same sized Jo Routens selling for less.

That's a $275-300 bike. And, likely has squished chain stays because of the kick stand.

...and it will fit someone who is about 5'7" to 5'8" tall. Does that describe you?

For the OP. For perspective, I just finished an overhaul (with lots of new parts) on what looks to be the same bike and advertised it today for $460 Canadian ($360 US) here: https://www.kijiji.ca/v-road-bike/ca...-21/1544911798
I would have asked more but I am only listing it on the local market as I am not interested in the hassles of shipping, and I would want the paint to be better to justify a higher price. I maybe could get a bit more in spring when the snow is gone. If the price on the one you are looking at is achievable I am in the wrong market.

The bike buying frenzy is over and the seller is stuck in that time period.
Way too much for that Bianchi model. I say run and dont look back.

I second the advice to watch the C & V sale forum here. A lot of nice bikes pass through there at pretty good prices.
And read through this forum. You can get a fair idea of general pricing. For that kind of money, you can get a much nicer ride. And for a lot less, you can get something you'd be very happy with.
(Not that the bike above isn't a nice bike. It's just way overpriced.)
